The space

Beautiful apartment (700 sq feet) in a Castle in the stylish resort city of Deauville

The castle was built in 1907 by architect Marcel Madeline for the Baron O. Bouwens Van Der Boijen, who owned horse race teams and chose to relocate next to the horse racing tracks and the Touques river.

It was renovated to accommodate up to 4 guests. It offers peace but not isolation (it is less than 5 minutes by car from the beach, shops, golf courses, horse racing tracks, seafood markets and casinos) in a breathtaking setting with sea view.

It has all the modern day comforts (satellite TV, WIFI, dish washer, washing machine, tea-maker, coffee machine, printer, scanner) you could wish for.

There are 2 bedrooms. One room has a pull-out sofa bed. The other one has a queen-size bed.

Beautiful view over the sea and valley.

There is an elevator in the castle.

Outdoor parking in an enclosed area.

There is the American film festival in September and the Asian film festival in March

The flat is located nearby the beautiful coastal cities of Honfleur, Cabourg and Trouville

A 40-minute coastal drive will take you to the D-Day landing beaches. However, the WWII bunkers of the Canisy hills are 3.5 km away (2.2 miles).

There are direct flights (Ryanair from London Stansted, CityJet Airline) between Deauville Airport and London.

You can reach Deauville from Paris in 2 hours by train.

There is a fenced park of 2.5 acres maintained by a gardener.

International TV channels (CNN, BBC, Bloomberg) available in the apartment.

Towels and bed linen are provided.

Normandy was, for most artists, their birthplace and home. Its proximity to Paris together with the burgeoning number of fashionable seaside resorts like Dieppe, Honfleur, Le Havre, Deauville or Trouville, along its coast meant that artists came to the region by train and stayed, producing an artistic legacy which would be hard to rival anywhere.

Breaking away from the more formalized and classical themes of the early part of the 19th century, the Impressionist painters preferred to paint outdoors, in natural light, and to concentrate on landscapes, towns and scenes of daily life.

The Honfleur artist Eugène Boudin was a forerunner of Impressionism, and had a profound influence on Claude Monet. For over half a century, Deauville, Trouville, Le Havre and Rouen were the inspiration for numerous canvasses.
