The views of the Black Mountains are exceptionally beautiful from this lovely cottage in a peaceful farm location. There is a log fire and underfloor heating in cold weather. Ideal for a relaxing escape. Wonderful walks from the doorstep in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Uncrowded hills and 2 pubs nearby. The historic Llanthony Priory Hotel and Half Moon.

The space
The accommodation is Inspected for quality and graded with four stars by Visit Wales.
A perfect location for a walking holiday. The lovely cottage is on a quiet farm with spectacular views overlooking Llanthony Valley in Brecon Beacons National Park.

Oak Cottage is one of two cottages within a converted stone barn with original beams and woodwork. It is open plan with underfloor heating in winter and a natural oak floor. A log fire welcomes you after a long walk in the surrounding mountains. You can lie in bed and see the flames in the wood burning stove.
There is a double bed and a comfortable single sofa bed in the same open plan space.
I am sorry that I cannot accommodate more than two adults or children over 6 months in this cottage while coronavirus is still a risk.

There is an spacious shower and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking your own meals.
Outside there is a table and seating in summer, for relaxing and enjoying the view.
WIFI is available just outside the cottage, but not inside due to thick walls and satellite internet. There is no phone signal, enjoy the break ! (The owners house phone may be used for urgent calls.)
Bikes can be kept in the barn or in locked shed if required

The views are spectacular both in winter and summer. Apart from one other holiday cottage, and Clare's house nearby, the neighbour's are over half a mile away. There are no street lights so it is great for star gazing, and apart from the occasional sheep baa-ing there is nothing to disturb the peace. There are many footpaths nearby which can take you on challenging treks up on the mountains or quiet walks in the valley. The hills are covered in purple heather in August and are often snowy in the winter.
There are pubs to walk to and excellent restaurants a few miles away.
Clare, the owner is an artist and has a gallery to view.
Hay-on-Wye, famous for second-hand bookshops is a wonderful drive over the Gospel pass. There are some wonderful old churches and castles to visit.
It is ideal for cyclists and walking enthusiasts.

I have lived in Llanthony for over 30 years. My time is divided between looking after the cottages, the garden and farm, my painting and drawing and my family. I paint in pastels, watercolour and oils and guests are welcome to see paintings in the studio.
