Cabin 16 is located within a family resort steps away from Mississagagon Lake, in fact, you can see the lake from every window in the building. It can actually feel like an island.

Lots of ONSITE activities to do depending on the season and conditions! Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, snowshoeshoeing, skating, forest trails, and more!

The space
During the spring, late fall, and winter the cabin is like an oasis. You will likely have no neighbours despite having other cabins close by. Why? The cabin is completely winterized and the majority of the other buildings are not. Knotty pine and a relaxing “hygge” ambience makes this a great place for a couple who want to disconnect from the world.

During the summer it’s a little more airy inside but a little more busy outside. This is a family-oriented resort so you will likely see kids and pets, boats and passers-by. Many nights are nice and quiet to enjoy a campfire or stargaze, but some nights could be a little louder, especially on weekends. We try and keep obnoxious noise to a minimum, especially past 11pm.

Kitchen gadgets for your use: fridge, oven, microwave, blender, slow cooker, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, blender, brie baker.... and of course pots, pans, utensils, and all the dishes you could want.

Bathroom: **newly updated with fragrant cedar wood!!** Stand-up shower, toilet, sink, toilet paper, and hand soap. Bring your own toiletries and towels. There is even a little nook where you can sit and wait while your lover showers. Doing so will give you a bit of a sauna-like experience! Ooo la la.

Sleeping arrangements: Curious to try an Endy or Hamuq mattress?? The "Purple Room" has a fantastic view of the lake and has a double bed (Endy mattress), the "Blue Room" has two Twin XL beds (Hamuq mattresses) that can be pushed together to make a King, or kept apart to accommodate a couple of kids or singles. The living room has a sofa bed with a memory foam mattress. While COVID-19 continues to be a global health crisis, we’re asking all guests to bring their own bedding and pillows. I believe it gives everyone a little more peace of mind. Bedding will be supplied once the threat has passed.

Outside: firepit with one load of firewood, hammock, BBQ with propane, some fresh herbs in the garden for the summer months! If you run out of firewood during your stay and would like me to arrange to have more delivered, each subsequent load will be $20.

Other things to note: several board games, puzzles, books (take a book/leave a book, or just take a book, I have too many), WiFi, cookbooks, DVDs, Bluetooth speaker, Smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, CraveTV and Satellite. Sign into your own, or just use the "Guests" profile!

Make sure you sign the guestbook! ;)

Location

North Frontenac, Ontario, Canada

North Frontenac is an absolutely beautiful patch of wilderness in southeastern Ontario that has scenic looping roads through forests and highlands, wetlands and lakes. I call it “Southern Ontario’s Last Frontier”.

We’re located in a region known as the Land O' Lakes and its claim to fame is Bon Echo Provincial Park just north of Cloyne, which is unfortunately closed (but still accessible at your own risk) during the winter.

It’s primarily a summer destination and the availability of activities to do reflects that. There are a handful of restaurants, shops, and artists (5-15 minutes away) and some are closed during the winter.

North Frontenac is still relatively undiscovered by the masses, but that may soon change as a result of people vacationing closer to home and discovering its beauty.

I’m a fish and wildlife technician based out of my family’s resort in southeastern Ontario. Cabin 16 has been a passion project of mine since I purchased it in 2012. I love to travel as well as home renovation projects. I prefer to reuse and reinvent rather than buy new things, so I usually always have some kind of project on the go!

During your stay
My family, who owns and operates this resort, live on the property all year round. During the winter I am in the lodge during your stay. In the summer, I can be found at the lodge, or the island cabin, but I can best be reached by email and usually I can help or answer questions immediately. I personally like to give my guests their space, but am available if any issues should arise.
