Where you’ll be

Alcúdia, Illes Balears, Spain

Playa d 'Alcudia is an extensive white sand beach in northern Mallorca located a few kilometres from the Port d 'Alcudia and next to the medieval town of Alcudia. Being one of the island's prestigious blue flag beaches, Playa d 'Alcudia remains strong in the face of cleanliness and sustainability. With a length of almost 3.5 km, this beautiful beach offers something for everyone. It's a beach popular with local residents and especially tourists, most of whom stay in one of the many beachfront hotels or nearby.

Playa d 'Alcudia is extremely suitable for families. It has good facilities with showers, bathrooms and changing rooms, a special playground area for children with gymnastics equipment and, of course, countless water sports such as kayaks, SUPs and velomaries, as well as great castle sand. Sun loungers and parasols can also be rented for the whole day. The waters are very clean, especially for such a large resort beach, and are usually quiet, but waves usually rise from the north, so it's important to check the water conditions. It's not a party beach and despite some bars and restaurants opening their doors at night, it stays discreet.
A good part of this beach borders on its back with a long wooden promenade that houses shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and accommodations, as well as a local tourist office. One part of the beach is a meandering canal below the hotels and restaurants, something truly unique on the island.

Towards the Port d 'Alcudia part is where there is usually the most movement, as the main facilities and activities are here, and as you descend towards Playa de Muro it is something quieter. But this beach is so extensive that you rarely get the feeling of saturation, even in the summer months.
There is a huge water park nearby called Hidropark, which includes slides, golf, trampolines and bouncy castles.
Playa d 'Alcudia is the best beach for activities, and is ideal for children and young people who want to have a great time. Water sports of all types can be rented at various sports stalls and shops located along the beach and wooden walkway: velomares, SUP, kayaks, windsurfing (one of the few areas of the island where windsurfing is possible) and paragliding, as well as boat rides and sailing lessons.

Along the sand, volleyball networks and designated areas with adult gym equipment can be found, as well as a small playground. There is more than enough space to build sandcastles. The wooden walk is nice to go shopping and have some shade. If it's not too hot, it's also nice to take a walk along the beach, to enjoy all the activity.
Restaurants in Playa d 'Alcudia

There are plenty of dining options in Playa d 'Alcudia. Along the same beach, you can find several beach bars offering fast food, such as hot dogs, burgers, and sandwiches; and all along the wooden promenade and surrounding streets, especially near the Port d 'Alcudia side, you'll find restaurants from all cuisines, including British-style, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Mediterranean, and of course Majorcan bars.
If you're looking for a gourmet meal, Port d 'Alcudia has several fantastic restaurants with renowned chefs.
Alcúdia, a walled medieval village, is a fun day trip or half-day trip from the beach. It is full of good restaurants, shops and a couple of boutique hotels, but what makes it so special is the entrance to the fortress-style village. Alcúdia has a long history, including Phoenician and Greek inhabitants, a large Roman settlement, Arab pirates and invaders, and finally Christian conquest. Traces of all these incredible stories can be found along Alcúdia's narrow streets.

For golf lovers, the nearby Alcanada Golf Complex is a must. And for birdwatchers and nature lovers, S’Albufera Natural Park is a beautiful expanse of natural wetlands and a great area for hiking or cycling. Another interesting attraction is the Yannick Foundation and Ben Jakober, a beautifully designed artists' house with its private collection, which includes portraits of children of all ages and eclectic animal sculptures.
