(23 Dec 16 to 05 Jan 17 are let out only as a whole villa and min no of nights is 6.)

A charming riverside Portuguese villa (let out wholly and each bedroom independently too) in Aldona restored to perfection with modern fitments and family heirlooms.

The property is lovingly taken care of by caretaker who resides on its premises.

The space
A handful of movie crews have wound their way here for its picturesque beauty!

The Only Olive gets its name from the olive tree in the garden rumored to be a hundred years old - like the house itself - and is said to be the only Olive tree of the particular kind in the whole of Goa!
The property has been lovingly refurbished by the owner and his family and the villa was painstakingly restored to reflect its former colonial glory to perfection all the while retaining its inherent Portuguese influences … shell windows and a shared well included.
Its airy, high-ceilinged living room is tastefully furnished and the large, formal dining table can accommodate a group of 10.
The cool whitewashed interiors give off an aura of peace and serenity – an ideal setting for romance, bonding with friends and family, or a restful holiday.

Where you’ll be

North Goa, Goa, India

The Only Olive is situated on a hillock with lovely views of the surrounding village.

Why is this Aldona's premium property?

This could be one of Aldona's premium properties by the very virtue of fact that it offers a ringside view of the best local culture and fare it can provide you with. We just got lucky with the property and its location, on a personal note :)
This is the only village caromed by rivers on all three sides and that too in the shape of a horse shoe. It offers spectacular view of cable stayed Corjeum bridge.

The St Thomas Church

The 16th century St Thomas Church here yields to relentless glory and its graveyard has this pithy writing, "aaj makka",which is "Today it's me, tomorrow it's you!

Ideal for families with kids

It's an ideal place to holiday with kids helping them connect with Nature, and the garden along with backyard provides huge space and freedom for kids to play around, especially if you're coming from metros or live in apts where there's no piece of land to step out right into and connect with.

Local facilities

The local market Tinto's has a pharmacy and a hoarde of stores and small eat outs for simple living.
The famous BAO is close by at walking distance just short of the Corjeum bridge. This provides the most delicious local Goan thali and sea food an meat delicacies. It's a must try.
Andron is at Nachinola around two kms away and is again the best eat out for authentic Goan fare. The pork and sea food preps are delicious.
It's a cluster of one the best local savouries around.
Tinto, the market place, also has a bar providing you with some best tasting feni.

Famous Indian snack and Goan sweets

Gokuldas Naik's family makes and sells some Indian snacks and savouries (chakries and chudas) that are a legend now and which are a huge hit with The Olive guests. And the juicy, blubbery bebinca, the premium kind, finds its way on the shelves of the local bakery here. And Adrian says right behind The Olive there's an Aunty who sells some "unbelievably" delicious sweets!

Nature's buff

The vicinity has the densest variety of birds and butterflies. It's a sheer delight for bird watchers.
Experience how you could bottle up time as you sit by the river side angling with the breeze pecking you all over. So be it angling or crab spotting or trailing the golden green path of fireflies in the night The Olive is the perfect choice for the romantic, explorer, traveler in you.

No wonder the area has drawn the literati in an unending love story. Many writers and artists have taken this place as their home!

I love environment friendly living spaces and The Only Olive is my closest realisation to that. I believe in protecting Nature to protect our progeny.

Green Paper Works is my latest entrepreneurial enterprise. We produce tree-free, chemical-free paper from organic waste.
I was in the wine industry for close to two decades before GPW. Like the sparkling wines, I love people, laughter, conversations.

When I found the used up walls and the battered pillars and smoked out roof of an ancient Portuguese villa in the ravishing green of Aldona with the majestic Olive tree for its company, I could go no further but buy it, rebuild it with delicate strokes and give my dreams a body and some blood!
The Only Olive is both serendipitous and premeditated destiny - it's the inner being wending my way back to where I came from and sharing that joy with deserving travellers.
