If you choose to go to Providence and wish to stay in a very central location near grocery store and other shops, in a really cool neighborhood, with easy accessibility to the highway and to College Hill, look no further. Our host communicated promptly and clearly any directions or expectations about their home. This place is full of character. I knew I would love it when I entered the master bedroom and my favorite novel (Stoner) was on the night stand and score of fun art collecting books were at my fingertips. Whole Foods is a 4 minute walk door to door from this cozy home and you will feel inspired in this great space. Stay here! Now!

We were looking for a last-minute place, and Johanne responded nearly immediately. She was able to accommodate our car parking requests and was rapidly in touch. Apartment was somewhat cold, and took a while to get to a comfortable temperature.

Response from Johanne:
Sarah, It was wonderful having the two of you as guests. We are new to Airbnb and this is our first winter letting out the apartment. The cold snap caught us off guard. We are sorry that you were chilly in the apartment. Now we know to crank the heat up before guests arrive. I'm sorry that we learned this at your expense. -Johanne

Johanne’s place was wonderful and spacious. It was beautifully filled with nick nacks, tips for the city and love. Truly as advertised and adorable designed. The space was great, and was next to a grocery store. If not for the spotty WiFi and slightly passive aggressive note from the downstairs tenant it would have been perfect. All in all though I’d happily return again.

Response from Johanne:
Hi Conor, thank you for staying. Sorry about the WIFI, I have upgraded the service and added a repeater for a better experience. Regarding the note from our tenant Mike. I though he was rather to the point. If you’re having ten of your friends over late at night, all wearing shoes drinking and making noise (all against our house rules), an apology to the tenant is more fitting than complaining to us. I understand that you’re new to AirBNB, but you must realize that our place is not a hotel room, it’s someone‘s residence.

This was an amazing place to stay — one of the most unique Airbnbs I’ve seen. Staying there made me feel like an artist, staying in my own personal museum, hidden in a cozy attic full of treasures collected around the world and books that made me feel smart, all brightened by the beautiful light from the windows. The climb up the narrow stairs opens up to a magic place that feels like home.

The house is old but spacious and beautiful. Easy to get to whole food and everything else. The host is very responsible for helping us. But if you have a lot of heavy luggage, walking them upstairs is not an easy job.

Response from Johanne:
Zhanwen, We were glad to be able to host you and your family. I'm sorry the luggage was so heavy. Thank you for being patient with us when the contractor unplugged the washing machine. You are welcome back

My American dad met my Danish mom as he was riding his Vespa across the Middle East and Europe. As a result of their wandering my sister and I spent the early years of our childhood with our parents on a small Greek island. We later moved to Providence R.I.
After high school I lived for three years on a socialist kibbutz in Israel and came home with the best souvenir: my husband of almost 30 years.
We have two awesome adult(ish) kids.
I write and publish a food blog.
We bought our Victorian house 15 years ago and renovated it top to bottom. My favorite part of our property is the garden. When we first saw the house, the yard was a graveled over parking lot and we have, through sweaty and pleasurable labour, turned it into a green and floriferous paradise.
We enjoy meeting new people and hearing the stories of their lives and travels that they choose to share with us.
