The space

Rustic cabin, built in 1901, now being lovingly nuzzled back to beauty. Spacious and cozy, woodsy and bright, with two big porches overlooking the Russian River Valley. A five-minute walk from the river, a five-minute drive from a bunch of wineries, and twenty-five minutes from the unbelievable Sonoma coast.

Guest access

No internet. No TV. No phone. Yes hummingbirds and the occasional deer. Amenities include plenty of good books, a not-so-good record player, a harmonica, a grill on the deck, and a wood-burning stove with plenty of firewood.

Other things to note

-The sleeping spots are: a full-size bed in the master bedroom; a full-size futon mattress in the loft at the top of a ladder; a twin mattress that can be on the floor of the study; and plenty of deck space for sleeping under the stars.

-Disclaimer: The place is a hundred years old and the renovation is still a work-in-progress, so there are still some quirks and rough edges: the kitchen table wobbles, the refrigerator is a mini-fridge, the half-bathroom door doesn't latch, etc. If things like that sound like "rustic charm," this house is for you; if they sound like offensive hazards, probably not.

We never directly interacted with Eli, but his house was lovely and exactly as described, in a peaceful location with tasteful decor and a great library. Directions to the place were easy to follow and we did not encounter any difficulties. All in all it was a great stay and we wish we had done more than one night.

Eli's place is perfectly located for exploring the Russian River and Sonoma Coast. We had an excellent stay, enjoying mornings and evenings on the beautiful porch. Forestville is full of charm. Armstrong Forest is also nearby to take in the redwoods. Highly recommend!

Eli's place was in a beautiful location with views of trees throughout the windows of the house. I appreciated all the kitchen utensils and the large collection of vinyl records. Although we were expecting no cell service, there was enough reception in case of an emergency. We were 4 adults and had a very comfortable stay with 2 in the main bedroom and 2 in the loft. The loft provided a nice place to sleep but can be scary to get up the ladder for some. There is also a mattress that can be set up in the other room if needed. Would recommend this place for a peaceful and beautiful getaway!

Eli's place is nicely situated in the forest and is right off the main highway. The view is awesome. The home itself is rustic and fun. There are many places to explore on the property. The pro's are the price, the location, fun interior with great nooks for small family members. The con's are an uncomfortable bed, no window coverings in the bedroom and no place for two adults to sit comfortably together. Overall, I appreciated being far from the city and close to the river.

Such a cool little spot! We would definitely stay at Eli's place again.

Great location! Eli was a great communicator and made check in easy. The house was great, full of curios, books and charm. Rustic but properly outfitted with everything you'd need for a getaway in the Russian River.
