Located near the Dickensian village of Cobham, this former coaching inn is steeped in history. Legend has it that brandy was smuggled through the cottage's now closed-off tunnel. Our historic home is cosy and peaceful. Spacious double bedroom for 1-2 guest. Shared bathroom, living & dining room, kitchen and large garden. Free wifi, coffee & tea and off-street parking. Accessible by train. Surrounding trails take you through beautiful orchards, woodlands, parks, Cobham village and historic pubs.

The space

Our peaceful and cosy home is adapted to meet modern living standards whilst maintaining its traditional character. People were a bit shorter in 1550 so doorways are low (mind your head!). The bedroom has high ceilings, a double bed, chest of drawers and a sofa. Bathroom has shower and bath, and the kitchen is equipped with fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Relax in front of the living room's large inglenook or in the lovely garden.

We supply eggs, cereal, milk, bread, spreads, coffee, tea to make your own simple breakfast.

Loved our stay at Kim and Andre's cottage and would recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect combination of pretty countryside, warm hospitality and an authentic, historical English cottage experience! Kim and Andre were really friendly and accommodating hosts, very interesting to chat to and full of suggestions for local walks and pubs. They made a great breakfast, very healthy with blueberries and some windfall apples from the local orchard! Really cute cottage with exposed timberwork and the room was bigger than expected. We drove and had no trouble finding it but it also seems a fairly manageable walk from the station, 20 minutes I'd guess. Really good shower but there is a trick to getting it the right temperature so be sure to ask. Would be happy to stay there again or recommend to others.

I'm from the Netherlands and have been living in the UK since 2011. I love lengthy travels and really getting to know other places and cultures. I enjoy hiking, foraging, outdoor climbing, camping and gardening, and have a soft spot for beautiful tree houses and friendly dogs.
