The Casita is set on 3 1/2 acres next to a tiny creek. Nicely appointed with everything you need and nothing more. If you are looking to wine tour or spend time on the river, while having a simple but elegant outdoor experience, you will love it here.

The space

Inside there is a comfy bed, a small table and lots of local seasonal art and craft. Attached to the Casita is a covered outdoor shower made with reclaimed redwood and an on demand H20 heater. The toilet is a Swedish made composting toilet that returns your belongings to the earth. Kitchen is minimal but allows for preparing simple meals on a single burner. Basic kitchen supplies included. You are welcome to have a campfire or just sit and watch the foxes chase the quail. No electricity, but wifi and power close if needed. Nice heater on thermostat keeps you cozy in the winter. Plenty of space for additional tents (inquire).

Guest access

I have kayaks and paddle boards available for an additional charge. I can also help put you in the river and pick you up downstream. Let me know your thoughts and I'll help you plan a trip.

Interaction with guests

After retiring from teaching high school woodshop, I found my dream property in the small town of Forestville. I am currently working on building furniture from local wood, planting gardens and canning fruit from my trees. Since I work on the property I am often around, although it's large enough you can largely avoid me if you are looking for solitude. I am happy to provide whatever local information I have. Please email me if you have special needs or interests.

Other things to note

I understand people like to drink on vacation and I am fine with that (I make a mean Mojito and you are welcome to use the mint growing on the property). However, If you are planning on drinking to excess this may not be the best place for you.

Great place for glamping. Feels remote and yet close to civilization. Amazing stars, firepit, and well thought-out cabin.

Hillel was an extremely gracious host, and his family was also lovely. If you're the type who likes no electricity, outdoor showers, small spaces, fire pits, etc., his spot is perfect.

Unique, clean, safe, quiet, private accomodations, cozy sleeping quarters surrounded by lots of beautiful open space, and trees. Skillfully handcrafted fixtures and amenities (e.g. bathroom and shower, kitchenette). Excellent location for wine tasting tours nearby, also close to Armstrong Redwoods, and the Russian River. Hillel was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The casita was exactly what we needed! It was cozy and clean, remote enough so we could enjoy each other in privacy, but close enough to town to make it easy to get out and about. We forgot to bring a cooler, and Hillel provided one, with ice. He was warm and helpful, but also gave us our space. While there was no electricity, it was well outfitted with plenty of warm candle light and lanterns. We LOVED the hot outdoor shower and compostable toilet. I cannot recommend this place highly enough! We will be back!

I loved my stay in the little cabin. It was just what I needed....close to Healdsburg but away enough to be so nice and quiet. The bed was comfy and Hillel was thoughtful to leave out extra blankets for the morning chill. I was charmed by the outdoor shower and composting toilet. I loved all the little touches too like the artwork and the fun "branch" hooks and light fixture. Perfect for getting away from the city.
