This is a typical two family flat in the fabulous South St. Louis neighborhood of SOHA (Southampton).

Quiet, safe, friendly street, wonderfully walk-able and just 5 doors up from the attractive Mackland Avenue business district. I live upstairs and am available at all times.

This unit is within walking distance of the best restaurants & bars in SOHA (0.1 – 0.7 miles)

The space

The first floor flat has been furnished as much as possible with the period of the home in mind to give you the ambiance of 1930’s life. Decorative fireplace with electric logs, formal dining room, art glass windows, coffered ceilings and replica chandelier. Remodeled kitchen with Viking stove, dishwasher and microwave.
There are water stains on the bathroom ceiling. The backyard is fenced, but is 100% mowed weeds and the tiny deck is wonky. Fine for letting a pet outside for a pit stop or some outdoor time, but not suitable for backyard ‘living’.
Renovations continue but it is a labor of love, time and money.

Guest access

You have private access to the entire first floor apartment. Private entrance and full use of the backyard, such as it is. Inside stairwell is not part of guest space, but unlocked and available in case of emergency exit.

Interaction with guests

I have lived in the St Louis area my entire life and am happy to make suggestions if you have a special interest. If there is something special you need or want, let me know. Most likely, I can get it for you or help you find it.

Other things to note

I am pet friendly and work very hard to keep my unit clean and fresh for each guest. If your pet loves to lounge on the sofa and watch TV, no problem, I have extra flat sheets for the asking to cover the sofa if you feel it is a good idea.
My back yard is loved by all doggy guests, but leaving the back door open for their convenience is not allowed. Let them in and out as often as they like, I am also available to cater to their indoor/outdoor whims, if you are away and you want me to cater to your pups need.
The city may seem like a sterile environment, but we have mice, rats, raccoons, opossums, foxes, and deer. As much as I love wildlife, I do not want them in my home. Please help me keep them outside by keeping the door shut when it is not being used for entry or exit.

Take a step into a vintage St. Louis neighborhood. This place is extra neat - stained glass, wood floors, plaster coves. Walkable to the deli, coffee, and cafes. Comfy bed. Lots of extras. Excellent value. Plus, Carol treated us like family. We will be back.

Carol is an absolute doll! When booking Airbnbs, I really rely on reading host reviews and I honestly can't say enough good things about Carol and her place. She was so easy to communicate with throughout the entire process, from booking to checking out, and so very welcoming when we arrived. My husband and I brought our dog along and Carol even had treats and a little toy for her to play with. She made us feel like family the moment we walked through the front door. Carol even had snacks and food available to us. This was beyond expectations. The neighborhood is adorable with plenty of parking and local spots to visit. It was also a great spot to bring your fur friends - nice area to walk your dog and a backyard for them to play in as well. If you're planning a trip to St. Louis, we'd definitely recommend Carol to anyone!

My husband and I needed a place to stay with our two cats between selling our house and moving out of state. Carol's place was affordable and much more comfortable than a hotel. She made sure everything was set for both the human and furry guests before we even got there and our week couldn't have run smoother.

Carol was a great & accomodating host and her house was very homey. She had snacks provided for us and tons of suggestions on things to do in the Lou. We loved the location of her place, we walked our dog in the evenings around the neighborhood. We were able to get to all of our destinations in about 10-20 min. Carol was great, definitely recommend!

My wife and I recently stayed at Carol's place on a cross country road trip, and we were absolutely blown away by how perfect everything was. The house itself is very charming, on a nice and quiet one-way street with plenty of parking. The inside is stunning, with a perfect mix of antique and modern touches, from the updated windows and beautiful kitchen/gas range, to the original wood flooring throughout the house. You really have to see it for yourself because pictures could never do this place justice. There's even a lovely little back yard to hang out in with a charcoal grill to use as well. The bed is INCREDIBLY comfortable, with sheets that literally make you feel like you're floating in air. So smooth. The place gets so much natural light through the many windows, but can easily be covered with updated shades that pull up and down with ease. No busted shades here. The shower/bathroom was super clean and the water pressure was perfect (and hot!). To top it all off, we had our cat with us on the trip and Carol went above and beyond, putting out a water and food bowl and asking if we needed to use a "guest" litter box. She even bought our cat a catnip toy to enjoy while she was there! The location of Carol's place is also a huge highlight, close to some of the best breweries not only in the state, but in the country (Perennial Artisan Ales is less than 4 miles away). Also, there was a multitude of lunch/dinner options within a mile walk from the house, so we didn't have to use our car once. There are just too many wonderful things to say about this place! Carol is an extremely caring and generous person who went out of her way to make us feel very comfortable and was always quick to respond to any messages. We had no issues whatsoever and it has been our favorite stop on our trip so far. Go see for yourself how amazing this house is and I'm sure you'll be just as excited as we are to have gotten to stay here.

I am a native (58yr) St. Louisian and live in south city.
I love to read and I love camping. I go to bed/get up early.
I have 4 cats, which is one short of crazy cat lady. They live upstairs with me.
I love animals and am happy to welcome your fur (or scale) babies.
I am new to Airbnb and am thrilled and terrified all at the same time.
