I am a person who enjoys helping others, and I have spent my career working in the nonprofit field with individuals with disabilities. I currently serve as the Executive Director of a large community-based nonprofit called Creative Work Systems, which supports individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injury, physical limitations and other special needs. I find this work very fulfilling, and am fortunate to be surrounded by compassionate people with good hearts. We provide residential services, day programming and social enterprise employment opportunities throughout southern Maine (with corporate offices in Westbrook, Maine). This organization is both innovative and entrepreneurial in creating opportunities for people with significant disabilities to find meaningful employment. One or our largest social enterprises is called Maine Woodworks, which makes and sells hardwood cottage-style painted furniture to retailers throughout New England. You will see examples of our craft throughout the house. I truly hope you have an enjoyable stay with me, and that you are able to sample some of the many great restaurants, museums, and places of great natural beauty we have to offer.
