This spectacular 900 sq. ft. E. Side apartment is a 5-min walk to Brown, RISD, downtown and the train station. Occupying the entire top floor of a Victorian home, the private entrance apartment melds old and new into a beautiful living environment. 5 skylights light up hardwood floors, exposed brick, unique architectural features, a great room, sunny bedroom, modern kitchen and bath. A futon couch can sleep 2 additional guests. A park with a running track and tennis courts is across the street.

The space

This large sunny, three-room apartment on the top floor of a three-story Queen Anne Victorian is private, comfortable, and filled with natural light. It is conveniently located in a safe historic, tree-lined residential neighborhood, and directly across the street from a large park.

Its spacious living room has ample space for relaxing with company, lounging or working. It includes a main sitting area for relaxing with friends, and two nooks for reading or catching up with emails. One corner of the living room includes a working space, with a desk large enough to really spread out, filing cabinets and a comfortable, adjustable leather office chair. A futon couch opens to sleep two additional guests.

The main bedroom, entered through large french doors, has a queen-sized bed, skylights, a Roku streaming tv, and a big walk-in closet. The mattress and all linens are new and comfortable, and down pillows and down comforters are provided. Regular blankets and pillows are also available for those who prefer them.

The modern, fully equipped kitchen includes a full-sized oven and induction cooktop, a refrigerator and freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave, a coffee-maker and a toaster. There is a small table and chairs, ample counter space, and plenty of cupboards that contain everything you will need to prepare either a quick snack or a full meal. In addition to the basics, you will find coffee, tea, cream sugar, and fresh pastries, butter and jams waiting for you upon your arrival.

The newly renovated but small bathroom has a tiled walk-in shower.

The apartment is filled with wonderful natural light. Windows and the skylights open to the treetops and breezes, and an electric fireplace provides a toasty feel at night. The unit has two air conditioners that keep it cool during the warmer months.

High speed wifi is included and is very reliable. An ironing board and iron is also provided.

You have a completely private entrance, and free off-street parking for two cars. The apartment is right in the middle of everything: within a five-minute walk through this rich, historical and architecturally diverse neighborhood are the Brown and RISD campuses, Benefit Street, Thayer and Hope Streets with their myriad coffee shops, restaurants and local businesses, Whole Foods, Staples, CVS, the post office and banks. You can easily walk downtown (ten minutes) to Waterfire, the theatre district, and the train station. India Point Park and the bike path that winds along the water all the way to Bristol is close by, as are seasonal ferries to Newport and Block Island.

Guest access

You can relax, read, and share coffee and outdoor meals on the big circular front porch. You are welcome to enjoy the yard and gardens and use the grill. The large park directly across the street has a running track, tennis and basketball courts, adult exercise equipment, and a children’s playground. Guests can also access the brand new Brown University Athletic Complex for $10 per day. This facility includes an Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool, indoor golf, tennis courts and running track, a full gymnasium, conditioning rooms with a full range of exercise equipment, outside fields, and many other sports-related spaces. It is five minutes from the apartment.

This apartment was better than expected! Great location to Brown Uni. Pictures don’t do this place justice, awesome natural light and openness. Heidi and Carol were very responsive. Next time we’re in Providence, we’ll be staying here again!

We had such a comfortable, relaxing stay in Heidi and Carol's place! The location is great - a quick walk to Thayer Street - and the house is just as charming and historic as the photos. We really appreciated Heidi and Carol's prompt, clear communication and would definitely stay here again.

Stayed there for four nights with my wife and nine months old son. Had originally booked for three nights but decided to stay one more night in Providence - Heidi could not have been more accommodating in adding the extra night. Everything went smooth from our arrival to departure, the apartment is perfectly located for exploring Providence's East Side (walking distance to both Brown's campus and the stores on Hope St). Next time we are in Providence we will definitely check if the apartment is available!

Thank you, Pierre. You and your family will always be most welcome. I hope to meet your little son next time. Heidi

Heidi was fantastic to communicate with and provided a lovely place to stay. It was so convenient to have off-street parking and keyless entry. The shower is exactly what weary travelers need and the skylights provide wonderful light in the apartment.

Heidi was a great host. The lines of communication were open and she took the time to check in with us during our stay (which was greatly appreciated)(URL HIDDEN)Heidi allowed us to check in early, as we arrived hours before the designated check-in. The house/apartment was updated with love and care and was very! clean. The apartment had lots of space and offered a very good security system(URL HIDDEN) Additionally, we were able to comfortably walk to Brown University (our destination) on a daily basis(URL HIDDEN)This was our first airbnb experience and I would highly recommend Heidi and her home. If available the next time we are in Providence, I would choose to stay at 216 Brown Street each time.

Wonderfully restored apartment; really charming, modern, and sparkling clean. This was my first time using Airbnb, and this experience has made me a convert. Heidi was prompt with responses and gave lots of info about the apartment. The apartment is on a quiet street next to the Brown campus, and only 5 minutes from downtown - so convenient!

Heidi's place is wonderful, and I'd book it to stay again (and already have). It's in a quiet, safe, upscale "East Side" neighborhood, and is both stylish, casual and comfortable. Plenty of good dining within a five to ten minute walk. One hidden secret of the East Side close by, the Brown University gym and rec facilities are available to the community at $10/day, and you can sign (EMAIL HIDDEN) or go directly to the fitness center. Communication was good and checkin/out was effortless.

I am a person who enjoys helping others, and I have spent my career working in the nonprofit field with individuals with disabilities. I currently serve as the Executive Director of a large community-based nonprofit called Creative Work Systems, which supports individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injury, physical limitations and other special needs. I find this work very fulfilling, and am fortunate to be surrounded by compassionate people with good hearts. We provide residential services, day programming and social enterprise employment opportunities throughout southern Maine (with corporate offices in Westbrook, Maine). This organization is both innovative and entrepreneurial in creating opportunities for people with significant disabilities to find meaningful employment. One or our largest social enterprises is called Maine Woodworks, which makes and sells hardwood cottage-style painted furniture to retailers throughout New England. You will see examples of our craft throughout the house. I truly hope you have an enjoyable stay with me, and that you are able to sample some of the many great restaurants, museums, and places of great natural beauty we have to offer.
