- - This list is everything you need to be a good guest in my home. It is all very basic etiquette and easy to follow! This unit is in the basement/lower level There is NO partying, NO loud music, NO drugs. My neighbors will call the police for noise violations!! This is a very friendly location but neighbors like it quiet. I cannot stress this enough: if you are looking to party, this owner-occupied townhome is NOT FOR YOU. If you are a quiet traveler looking for a restful, quaint accommodation, this is your place. :) *******There is NO smoking in the unit or on the property. This is a town home with rules against smoking in common areas. To smoke, you must walk to the park across the street from the home****** - This is an old home with older plumbing. You can flush ONLY the toilet paper I provide. You must not flush ANYTHING else! If you use a Clorox wipe or paper towel to clean after yourself in the bathroom, put those items in the garbage... not the toilet. Ladies... NO sanitary items can be flushed of any kind (even if the package says they can be flushed!!!!!). If I have to call a plumber because something other than bodily fluids and the provided tissue get flushed, you will be charged the fee for the plumber. *This lower-level (basement) room is professionally cleaned before you move in. If you want fresh sheets or towels during your stay, you must do your own laundry with provided soap. - Help me keep costs low. Turn off all lights when not in use. - Clean your dishes in the kitchenette, dry them, and put them away so they are ready for the next guest. This includes plates, bowls, glasses, coffee cups, coffee pot, and wiping out the microwave. Also, take your trash out if you throw away food or something with odor. - Clean after yourself in the bathroom. This includes: cleaning water off the floor, wiping the sink for the next guest, putting both toilet seats down, cleaning the toilet after yourself, wiping the mirror if needed, and closing the shower curtain. -These simple tidying steps make the space neat for the next guest and if you don't do these simple things, you might be charged an extra cleaning fee. - You have access to the lower level of the home only. Within the unit, quiet hours are from 10:30 pm - 7 am. Please see my previous comments about noise and the neighbors. It is best to think of the outside as always having quiet hours. -

You must also acknowledge
Must climb stairs - The apartment is in the basement (lower level). There are 5 stairs down into the unit
Potential for noise - I live upstairs. You might hear faint footsteps above.
Pet(s) live on property - My golden doodle dog lives upstairs with me. She does not have access to your room or apartment.

I stayed at Tara's place for a little more than 2 weeks! It's a really nice place and is exactly what it looks like in the photos. She makes sure that everything is clean and up to standards. The home is in a very pretty neighborhood and everything you need is walkable distance away! It is calm and perfect for students like me.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay here. The place was clean, quiet, and quite unique. Host communication was great and all needs were anticipated and provided for. Do take note of the height restrictions. I'm 6'1" and I had to be very careful in the bathroom and shower. Another note is that there are several oil diffusers and such, so a word of caution if you're sensitive to strong scents.

Really cute room and Tara was very thorough with the check-in process. Location was a bit far from the events we were in Chicago for and nightlife, but otherwise a really cute and quiet neighborhood.

Tara is a wonderful host! Everything was exactly what I expected if not better. Self check in was easy and pain free. Although we didn't get a chance to meet Tara in person, she was always quick to reply to my messages and was very helpful and accommodating. Comfortable bed, clean room, and an easy walk to the green line station to get you anywhere in the city. Would highly recommend this room. A great value not far from downtown Chicago! Hope to stay again soon!

Tara's accommodations are perfect. They're located very near to public transportation, as well as local shops and restaurants. The city is just a short 30-minute train ride away. The place is adorably decorated and has everything that's needed for a weekend trip. I would highly recommend! (One note: I would not recommend this place if you're a really tall person. Because it's a basement apartment, the ceilings are low. Thankfully, I'm not tall. :D )

I am a public school teacher (literature and writing) and mom with a passion for traveling. I love talking to new people, making new friends, and learning about new places. You will find me to be communicative, friendly, and respectful.

As a teacher, I love that Air B n B has opened the world to budget minded travelers. I don't think you should have to be able to afford a fancy hotel to have a travel adventure!!! My philosophy as a host is to offer quality accommodations at a fantastic price. My hope is that you love your room for all these reasons plus many more. See you soon!
