Our cheerful 400-sq ft casita sits on just over an acre of shared property down a private road in the North Valley, with easy access to I-25, a RailRunner Station, and the Cottonwood Mall area. The location offers the best of both worlds -- spectacular mountain views (especially at sunset), and easy access to the Paseo del Bosque Trail and the Cottonwood forest along the Rio Grande.

The space

City services, city address, and city conveniences, with quiet country charm. Once an art studio, this little building has been freshly painted and appointed with a comfy queen-sized memory foam bed, on-demand hot water, and plenty of books to curl up in the armchair with. A kitchenette provides a refrigerator, microwave, hot plate, coffee maker, and a drop leaf cafe table mounted on the wall. Want to dine in your pajamas? No problem -- dishes, glassware, and basic cookware allow you to make the most of a lazy morning. Arctic air-conditioning and toasty heat. At first glance, the bathroom appears minimalist, but what what it lacks (a sink), is more than made up for with the added luxury of endless hot showers and a separate heater to ward off the morning chill.

Guest access

The casita stands alone a short distance from the main house, with a private entry and separate vehicle access. We are 20 minutes from the Sunport and 50 minutes from Santa Fe. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Park is less than a mile away -- enjoy the balloons and fireworks without the hassle. Ridiculously easy access to I-25, Bernalillo, Corrales and Rio Rancho.

Interaction with guests

We live on site and generally available to answer questions. If you need something, just let us know -- we'll respect your privacy.

Please respect our 11 a.m. checkout time. If you need a place to keep your luggage, just ask.

Other things to note

Our property is home to a variety of entertaining barnyard pets -- two goats, chickens, two ewes, two cats and a dog named Beans. We pen the farm animals in the barn at night, but ask that guests keep gates secured at all times. Our animal friends are social and curious, and we are happy to make introductions if you like.

We booked the casita the day after Claire posted, so of course no reviews yet. She was super responsive and I felt completely comfortable after speaking with her. We were there for the Balloon Fiesta and woke the first two mornings with balloons right overhead. Watched the fireworks from the backyard one night with some family members that were also in town. No crowds to deal with, close to town, but in the country, one mile from the Fiesta Grounds. Bonus for goats, sheep, chickens and of course Beans. Would highly recommend!

We loved this location! The Balloon Festival was practically right behind the property! It was a quick 10 minute drive around to the balloon park. Clean and comfortable, everything was great!

Such attention to detail! The fact that you can grind up some coffee beans on the spot and make a fresh cup won me over. The self check-in was perfect as my flight only landed after 11pm. Make sure to pay close attention to the directions given - gps only gets you to the main address. The casita was exactly what I needed after a long day and a long flight! Hope to stay again in the future!

If you are looking for something different outside the city, this is the place. Exceptionally clean, good amenities, and lots of animals onsite to drain the stress right out of you after a long day's drive. Hosts very hospitable and responsive. Highly recommend.
