The space

Fox Cottage is a grade-II listed terraced cottage built around 1750. It's been tastefully modernised, with contemporary furnishings and art throughout. With good central heating, an open fire and modern fittings, it has all the charm of a historic property with none of the damp!

The kitchen is self-catered, and includes tea and coffee (Bosch Tassimo espresso machine). The bathroom has a full-length bath and overhead rain-style shower. The living room is arranged around the open fire, with a 24-inch TV (Netflix and a Blu-ray DVD player).

The king bed has a quality, French-made mattress, with feather pillows and duvet. There's a sizable chest of drawers and wardrobe (both empty for your possessions).

The reading room is a little alcove where you can sit and read a good book in a comfortable armchair, or one of the bean bags, while looking out at the view. There's also a small desk if you're not able to leave your work at home.

The front garden is very long and private, extending down to the village pond and a small road. The garden is in a cottage style and organically managed to attract wildlife.

Guest access

You'll have access to the whole house and garden. The kitchen includes all basic appliances except dishwasher and microwave. Cutlery, glassware, crockery and basic supplies such as salt, pepper, herbs, olive oil and flour are included.

Outside, there is a small table in the garden for dining alfresco, and two deckchairs for sunbathing. We have lots of herbs growing in the garden which you're welcome to pick for cooking, as well as strawberries and raspberries in season.

All bath towels, bed-linen and kitchen towels are included, as well as a hairdryer. If you're wondering if something specific is in the house, please just contact and we'll let you know if we have it.

This quintessential cottage is in a super location in the heart of Aldbury, suitably close to the pub! Lovely garden, great open fire, very comfy mattress and extremely quiet at night. All in all a lovely stay.

Fox Cottage is such an amazing find. It's a beautiful historic property in a fantastic village location. It's a great base for country walks, and was incredibly cosy in winter with the open fire. I'd love to stay here again in the future, it was a struggle to give the keys back!

A beautiful cottage and we can’t wait to return. Michelle is a wonderful host and was extremely helpful and welcoming. The cottage is warm and homely with excellent facilities set in a cute village (with the most well stocked little shop!) Only advice would be to watch your heads if you’re 6’3!

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Fox Cottage. Michelle gave us loads of information before our arrival, about the cottage itself and the surrounding area, with lots of suggestions for things to do and see. The cottage is a little gem: stunning original detail throughout, all the modern conveniences and lovely and comfortable furnishings that made it such a special place to stay. It is nicely set back from the road via a long, private garden but is steps from the village pubs and corner shop so very convenient for food, drink and necessities. We did not have a car and spent our time doing some wonderful hikes through the countryside. The kitchen is great and living room so inviting for relaxing that we stayed in one night, made ourselves dinner and caught up with some Netflix. We highly recommend this place and hope to come back and stay again ourselves. Thank you, Michelle!
