Alexhouse is our beautiful old Goan village home with thick laterite walls, wooden roof with terracotta tiles, and deep maroon floors. It is set in a little vaddo in North Goa with its own Chikoo tree, secret garden and a cute little pond-in-the-making. A home with gorgeous art and abundant with spaces to lie back, relax and enjoy a sense of susegad. We can on request arrange for ethical dolphin watching trips, nature and heritage walks and cycling trails.

The space
Our home is discreetly divided to provide our guests with a private unit towards the front of the house. The space comprises a lovely Goan style balcao with stone benches to sit down and enjoy the breeze while watching the world go by. The balcao opens into an altar room, with gorgeous high ceilings and art on the walls. This room leads to a cosy bedroom for two, with a queen sized wooden bed and an ensuite bathroom.

To the other side of the altar room is our living space, which doubles as a sleeping space with a single bed and a floor mattress. This space is also set up for entertainment with a TV and a home theatre system, access to Netflix and Amazon Prime. There is an electic collection of books, coffee table books, magazines and games around the house. A refrigerator, water kettle, cups, plates, cutlery, etc. is available for guests in the living area.

Even though the house has been adapted to modern requirements, being inside an old village house guests may experience occasional contact with nature and the environment outside like a frog hopping around, or a caterpillar, or monkeys dancing on the roof even sweating walls in the monsoon!

Please note that our home is where we bring together and celebrate our love with mementos from our travels and our priceless collection of Art, photography and books. We hope that you will treat our home with kind consideration and care.

Guest access
Guests will have exclusive access to the front portion of the house which has a separate entrance. The back of the house is occupied by my husband Aditya, our little baby girl and I and is our (mostly) private residence.

Guests are welcome to access all the common areas such as the garden, and the garden balcao - which is the heart of our home.

We are happy to share our perfectly brewed cup of coffees, our fast wireless Internet connection, electricity back up, and an endless supply of clean drinking water in quirky glass bottles - so no plastic bottles can tempt you while in Goa ;)

Other things to note
All guests are required to carry a copy of any Government provided ID (Passport in case of a Foreign National) and provide us with a copy of the same.

The rooms will be cleaned only on request between 10am and 12pm in the presence of the guest (no cleaning service on Sundays).

Bedsheets/towels will be changed on a weekly basis unless requested.

We also have some take-away menus and contact numbers of local restaurants.

Location

Sodiem Siolim, Goa, India

We are quite nicely located with a general store 2 houses down, taking care of all our daily needs and endless supplies of chilled beer. The closest market, ATMs, some eating joints are all a 5 minute drive from the house.

The bus stop is right outside our home (we are located on a main road and are subject to hearing the traffic move - which my mom loves. She spent a year in Goa and buses became her vehicles of discovery and freedom).

By car, we are 10 mins to Mapusa, 15 mins from Chapora, Vagator, Anjuna, 20 mins from Morjim, Ashvem, Mandrem, 40 mins from Panjim (the picturesque capital of Goa), and an hour 10 mins from the Dabolim airport.

A little suffering, a little love, a pinch of crazy, and a bucketful of curious - round about puts me down in recipe format :) An out and out home lover, flushed with the discovery of how our green and flower filled garden is reaching for the sky. A lover of spaces, literature, and the arts - I love travel and some of my best experiences have been with local hosts who have opened their homes to virtual (ahem but super fun ) strangers like me. My husband Aditya and I love meeting new people and crafting experiences to make our guests have the best times possible.
