Charming studio for two (or one!), in the heart of Live Oak, Santa Cruz. Our "Casita" (Little House) is close to beaches and upper harbor. Minutes from downtown Santa Cruz, Beach Boardwalk and Capitola by the Sea. Studio is located behind our house but has a separate entrance. The Casita is completely self-contained with kitchenette (with vintage Wedgewood stove) and small separate bathroom. Sleep in comfort in a double-sized vintage iron bed and enjoy a small but charming outdoor area!

The space

The Casita is a totally self-contained studio with a separate entrance. It is small (approximately 240 sq. ft.) and meant to house only one or two guests at a time. It has a *small* separate bathroom with toilet, stall shower and a toilet tank sink. There are pictures of the toilet tank sink in our listing photos and we recommend that you check them out if you have never seen one before!

The Casita comes with freshly laundered bed linens, bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths and bath mat (for the stall shower). The kitchen will also have a freshly laundered kitchen towel and drying mat. I thoroughly clean, sanitize and mop up after each guest leaves to make it clean and fresh for you.

Guest access

Guests can access the separate entrance to the Casita by entering the gate to the right of the house. There is a reserved parking space in the driveway, (behind my little vintage travel trailer). Guests are encouraged to (gently) use the vintage dishes/bowls and vintage silverware. Also feel free to use any and all of the appliances, cooking pots/utensils, etc.

The Casita also has a (small) private yard with a metal outdoor table and chairs, along with a comfortable wicker chair and ottoman which we hope guests will enjoy. If uncovered and used during the day, we ask that guests use the covers provided at night since Santa Cruz fog can get things a bit wet (and eventually rusty).

Interaction with guests

Guests are welcome to contact us via text message or phone call at any time for any reason or question. We are available as much or as little as you want!

Other things to note

Guests are welcome to cook on the vintage Wedgewood stove (the one that I grew up with that belonged to my Mother), however, the Broiler does not work. Not to worry though, all the burners, griddle and oven are working fine!

We now have wifi in the Casita, however, there is no cable. We do provide a list of DVD's and are happy to loan them out during your stay!

Maria's little guest cottage is full of charm. We visited Santa Cruz for a friends wedding and stayed in the Casita for 2 nights. It was just right for the 2 of us. The space is small but Maria has thought of everything and I was very impressed with how she arranged it all. The Casita is clean and comfortable and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Enjoyed the privacy and all of the sweet touches of the studio. Examples are, coffee and cream furnished for breakfast, a comfortable bed and nice furnishings. We stayed 3 nights and had complete privacy. I would recommend this property. Maria was very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions we had.

This was the most wonderful, restorative, sweet place to stay in. It was Exactly what I was looking for and exactly as described. Very clean and charming and thoughtfully decorated and laid out. I will be keeping an eye on it to return in the future, for sure! Thanks Maria!

The cottage is cozy and carries the vintage theme throughout. The description is quite accurate. We found the location to be extremely convenient for visiting the Santa Cruz area, as well as the Monterey peninsula. The cottage is private and in a quiet area. Maria was easy to communicate with and willing to assist in any manner.

Maria went above and beyond as a hostess! She was extremely accommodating. She even offered me tea and honey when I mentioned I wasn't feeling well. We were very impressed with our experience. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. Close proximity to the boardwalk.
