I stayed on the boat with my 17 year old and 8 year old sons for a week. I loved the boat and staying on the water. This is a good sized fishing boat, which was perfect for the three of us. Maybe not the right fit for anyone who is high maintenance and has never been on a boat. It is like camping, but even cooler, since you have the beautiful night sky and steady breeze, with only the sound of the water. Kara was a very attentive and informative host. The boys and I always learned something new during our chats with Kara as she taxied us to and from our boat. The dock is a short walk to Duval street, or an $8 Uber ride. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the surrounding neighborhood. Try Pepe's and Bien for great food. The boat had a great library and wonderful music on board, and plenty of games. The best snorkeling we found in the Keys was right under our boat. And the boat is equipped with enough fishing gear and tools to keep most folks happy. My only regret is that I had to leave.

If you are looking for a unique place to stay then the Shanty is it. Kara was a great host and she provided rides back into town when we needed to. The fishing is awesome, you will literally be fishing all day all night so its a fisherman's dream. I would definitely stay again and recommend this unique boat to any one that wants to relax, fish, snorkel, kayak and stay on the water.

The Shanty was amazing, everything we could have asked for. Kayaking, fishing, snorkeling is just a small part of this charming boat with a great view. Come here to refresh, recharge and relax.

If you're looking for an adventure, I highly recommend the boat house. My two sons, ages 7 & 9, and I stayed for 3 nights. We had front row seats to Key West fireworks. All of the amenities on board were a perfect touch to Key West lifestyle. We took a kayak from boat to Wisteria Island. My boys loved the hanging chair. The dart board came in handy at nighttime. We saw a waterspout and a complete rainbow. Everything was perfect. You can fish for dinner right off the boat. This place is nothing short of magical. Can't wait to come back for another visit. Our host, Kara, was so patient and knowledgeable. Couldn't have asked for a better trip.
