We are happy to be able to welcome guests back to Goose Croft.
We have always maintained a high level of cleanliness but we will are also doing a deep clean that the coronavirus requires, using COVID antiviral disinfectants certified to BSEN standards.
The setting of this cosy small cottage is beautiful and you feel quite secluded, yet the village of Edale is 1 minute walk away. From here you can enjoy the countryside by walking or biking, short or longer routes.

The space
From the living room or out on the patio you can enjoy watching the many birds that come and visit the bird feeders and gritstone bird bath. Regular visitors are Chaffinch, Gold Finch, Blue tit, Great tit, Coal tit and Great Spotted Woodpecker.

The quality 'Clearview' wood burner is an added bonus for those cosy evenings. It will be laid ready for you on arrival and there are clear pictorial instructions on how to use it correctly. The first basket of logs is complimentary and after that there are nets of logs, kindling, firelighters and newspaper that are available to purchase at cost, we use an 'honesty box' for this.

The kitchen is fully equipped and has an induction hob, electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge with a small freezer compartment.

The bathroom is on the ground floor, due to the layout of the cottage.

The lounge has a settee and a Lloyd Loom chair. There is wifi and depending on your network you may or may not get a mobile signal.

Narrow stairs lead up to the bedroom, which has a double bed.

Goose Croft has its own private parking space for one car, which is solely for guests of the cottage and also has a safe bicycle storage shed, for you to lock your bikes in, should you wish to bring them along to explore the area on two wheels.

Guests have use of the patio, which has a table and chairs and a bench. The patio looks over Goose Croft orchard.

Goose Croft is a 50min drive from Manchester airport. You can use the train to get to Edale from the airport via Manchester Piccadilly station.

I do not charge a cleaning fee in addition to the nightly rate but request that guests leave the cottage neat and tidy and I will do the rest to ensure it is perfect for new visitors arriving.

Where you’ll be

Edale, Hope Valley, United Kingdom

The scenery around this area in the Peak National Park is stunning, I have lived here for 30 years and never want to move.

The village has two pubs, The Nags Head and The Rambler Inn, two cafes, the Penny Pot and Newfold Farm Cafe, there is also a small shop, which sells a huge range of groceries (various opening times depending on the season).
The Moorland Centre is half a mile down the road and has lots of useful information about the area.
In Goose Croft there is a comprehensive guest information folder, a basket full of tourist attractions etc. I have also put together A4 laminated maps showing local walks straight from the door, for you to take out and use.

Castleton is just 7 miles by car and you can also walk to the village over the Mam Tor/ Losehill Ridge via the old 'coffin route'. Castleton has an assortment of gift shops selling the famous Blue John stone, four different caves to visit, a good selection of cafes and six pubs!

Buxton is also worth a day visit, as is the market town of Bakewell (if only to go and buy a Bakewell pudding, not tart!) and the well known Chatsworth with its beautiful house and fabulous gardens.

Eyam the 'plague village' is a really interesting day out, there is also a museum (telling the story of the plague), Eyam Hall and its Craft Centre. You can also visit The Riley Graves, the tragic burial ground of a Peak District plague family.

The gritstone edges and moorland of the Dark Peak and the beautiful valleys of the White Peak provide two contrasting areas to go walking or cycling.

The Hope Valley train line (Edale station 10min walk from Goose Croft) gives you the option to explore the area without a car. Many of our guests have taken the train to villages along the line and then walked back to the cottage. Or use the train to visit Manchester or Sheffield for a day.

I live in a beautiful part of the UK in the Peak District National Park. I have been here for 30 years with my husband and our two children grew up here. It is a great place to do all the activities I enjoy, mountain biking, climbing, walking and just being outdoors. I also like to sew and make different craft items, some of which are in Goose Croft
