We just finished a complete interior and exterior remodel of this 1950's ranch-style home just a few blocks from historic downtown Glen Rose.

Based here, you're just 15 minutes from Fossil Rim Wildlife Park or Dinosaur World, or just a short walk to downtown Glen Rose - shopping, museums and dining!

The space

Situated on a half-acre elevated bluff, 15' above the meandering Paluxy River, this Glen Rose hideaway is just blocks from many of this charming little town's favorite attractions, yet secluded enough to just hunker down, relax and recharge!

Our home was built in the early 1950's on the site of the beloved Grisham Pool, the first "cement swimming hole" in Glen Rose. As a matter of fact, this property has been designated as a Historic Landmark by the City of Glen Rose, Texas! The sides of the original pool are still there and now form the sides of our driveway.

Two blocks west of our home is the historic downtown Glen Rose square anchored by our Courthouse and surrounded with two museums, two art galleries, shopping, dining (including the best pies in the state; really) and even foods sold farm fresh from local growers.

Two blocks east of our home is the popular Big Rocks Park where, during summer, the Paluxy River is ready for you to enjoy whether you're splashing, fishing or just relaxing.

Or, take the concrete footbridge and walk safely across the Paluxy River to historic Heritage Park where homes of the original Glen Rose are on display for all to see and enjoy.

On the opposite side of the street from Big Rocks Park is Glen Rose's own Oakdale Park, home of the free Bluegrass Jam music-fest! Come enjoy great Bluegrass music - search online for their schedule of events.

If your stay includes the kids, we're centrally located for major local attractions like Fossil Rim, Dinosaur World and Dinosaur State Park. Each are just a few miles away by car.

This recently-renovated (2013) hideaway features all of the charm of an original 1950's single-story ranch style home made over in comfortable, casual cottage-style.

I've also added all the new must-have technical conveniences including high-speed Internet (Wi-Fi), Smart TV's (HD of course) with satellite TV plus a Blu-Ray DVD player and finished it off with a nice on-site library of DVD's for all to enjoy.

There's even an 8' picnic table for your outdoor feasts and comfy chairs in the newly added, bug-free screened-in back porch which enjoys a view of the Paluxy River and tree tops from its lofty perch.

If it's family time, there's a special area for board-game challenges! You definitely won't run out of things to do. Or, you can choose to do nothing and return home relaxed, recharged and refreshed.

The kitchen is fully equipped with brand new appliances (2013), flatware and table setting for twelve. A full complement of pots, pans, cooking utensils and more is ready for your use.

The renovated bedrooms feature new (really comfy) mattresses (purchased in November 2013); a King size bed in the Master Bedroom and a Queen-size bed in the guest bedroom and outbuilding.

All bathrooms have also been recently remodeled, keeping key elements of the past (see the black and pink master-bath), while updating all the fixtures.

The views from the main home are wonderful and relaxing. A recently completed 20' wall of windows looks out on trees, plants and the Paluxy River across the street.

A full laundry (washer and dryer, ironing board and iron) is on-site if you want to return home with all clean clothes...

This home can be the perfect base-camp for your relaxing weekend away in the historic town of Glen Rose!

Very comfortable home with plenty of room for 4 adults and a toddler. The outdoor space is great and the snacks, drinks and toiletries were a very nice touch! Nelson and Donna are excellent hosts and I would absolutely recommend renting from the them.

Nelson's place at 804 Ruth Parker can be tricky to find the first time. But what a delightful find. Plenty of room with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Open living has lots of natural light and furniture is comfortable. We did not use the screened porch much as it was a bit nippy. There is a guest house that could be rented as well another bed and bathroom nearby. Nelson is easy to deal with and will answer your texts and provide a fix if needed. Great place to stay.

We had a great stay at this home in Glen Rose. We were in the area as sponsors of Spartan Race in nearby Iredell and wanted to stay in a home where we could relax and cook homemade meals after long days on-site. This home was perfect! We even used the fire pit out back to do some grilling. The location was great, close to the grocery store and other retailers. I would highly recommend this home.

This is such a cute house with a perfect country chic feel. We loved sitting on the back porch and making s'mores in the fire pit. The separate bungalow was very nice and made for a great area for my parents. The owners were very easy to communicate with and even left us snacks and drinks to enjoy! I highly recommend staying here!

The house was exactly as described in the listing. Nelson was an awesome host. We had an issue connecting to wifi and he quickly repsonded to get us connected. The property we learned was an historic Landmark which is pretty cool. Proximity to golf course was less than 2 miles which worked perfectly for us. The only time we left the house was to play golf or pick up items at the brookshires grocery.

Response from Nelson:
Thanks for the great review! Our proximity to both downtown and the Golf Course, and just blocks from Big Rock Park, the Somervell Expo Center and the concerts at Oakdale Park make this a great "base camp". Come back to visit when the need to get away returns!
