PLEASE HAVE AT LEAST ONE POSITIVE AIRBNB REVIEW (or reference by an Airbnb user, for new users). Please have this in place before placing a reservation inquiry.
NO PARKING PROVIDED. There is only metered street and paid off-street parking. This is a downtown setting with superb nearby public transpo but no free parking.
One full bed in bedroom, plus one twin pull-out loveseat in living room, plus one full-length couch. All ADA accessible including bathroom. Full kitchen with snacks and drinks provided, along with ironing board and iron, blow drier, toiletries.
DSL internet (wired and WiFi), basic cable TV with DVD player. Available coin laundry a few doors down the hallway.
This is a downtown setting which means it does get a fair amount of street noise. The apt. is on the fourth floor overlooking a large downtown street. The bedroom does have heavy, double blackout drapes. All that being said, I've never had a guest complain about the noise.
Apartment itself 100% non-smoking (including E-cigarettes, vapes, etc.) and there is no balcony. One floor down there is a rooftop garden with a smoking area.
No pets please, sorry, we have people with allergies who also use the apt.
Linens provided. (Instant) coffee and teabags provided; Peet's and Starbucks also nearby. Complimentary snacks and cold drinks.
Oakland weather is famously mild and so there is no air conditioning or central heat (though there are electric space heaters in the apartment). There are screened windows that open and table fans you can use.
Card key access to building then key to apt. Will need to arrange face to face meeting on arrival, but can just leave keys in apt. on checkout. In some cases I'm able to mail you the access card/key before you arrive (this is the 24h access option) but this has to be planned ahead in time.
Interaction with guests
I live 15 min away. After getting you keys, open to as much or little contact as you need.
Other things to note
"But it is safe in Oakland?" you may wonder. The Downtown / Chinatown / Lake Merritt area is more or less like any big-city setting where you just stay aware of your surroundings and don't walk around alone with your eyes glued to your shiny smartphone. I myself frequently go jogging around Lake Merritt well after dark and have never felt unsafe. Living here almost my whole life I have never been mugged. But there are places and times to avoid and common-sense precautions to take as in any urban setting.
No pets or smoking (including E-cigarettes or vapes) please.
