Antique freestanding tiny house in Moss Landing Harbor originally built in 1910. Located in the center of a fishing village, Whale watching and Elkhorn slough tours leave daily across the street. Watch sea otters play from right outside the front door in the harbor. Just 20 minutes to Santa Cruz or Monterey, Moss Landing is the heart of the Monterey Bay and a throw back to the way little harbor towns used to be in the old days.

The space
Dog and kid friendly! New wall heater installed April 2021 and new high speed WiFi just installed Sept 1 2021 with smart TV.
Super clean and sanitized!!! We clean every surface and every linen between guests and have a Hepa air purifier inside. We take our cleaning protocol extremely seriously. Sparkling clean studio casita is the perfect relaxing, tranquil little getaway and is very convenient and private in a central location to everything Monterey Bay has to offer. Just 20 minutes to Carmel or Santa Cruz in either direction. The kitchenette comes equipped with a microwave, mini fridge and an induction burner and copper pots. Coffee and teas are provided as well as a pour over coffee and tea kettle and Keurig including coffee pods. The bed is a super comfortable queen size encased coil mattress with memory foam top from Room and Board. The bed will be made up with clean linens and blankets. We wash everything, including the duvet cover between every stay. Pillows and mattress all have covers as well.
Babies and kids! - we have 3 little ones ourselves and if you are bringing your see we little people, let us know as we have things we can bring over to make things easier for you at your request, like park n play, high chair, books, toys, games, etc!
49" Flatscreen smart Roku tv and high speed WiFi internet.

The cottage has a little private fenced in outside patio with parking right in front.
We don't mind if you smoke on the patio, just dispose of anything into the garbage cans in the driveway, not in the house.

The house is conveniently located right next door to Phil's Snack Shack restaurant which opens daily at 7am and serves up a tasty breakfast and lunch and they have a yard right on the water to drink coffee from and watch the birds and sometimes our “pet” otter who our little boys named Olive. :)

World class surfing located just steps away.
Amazing kayaking adventures in the endless nature preserves and sloughs and harbors of Moss Landing. The sea otters are very friendly and might even try to jump in the kayak with you! (Don't let them and don't feed them though, it's a no no)
There are numerous whale watching, shark watching and fishing charter boats leaving multiple times daily across the street in the harbor (1 minute walk).

Nature hikes and an awesome beach walk/bike trail along the picturesque slough and Salinas River State Beach. (we have old beach cruisers if you want to borrow while here)

History of the house:
This cottage has a history of it's own! Built back in 1910, this was the original bait shop back when Highway One ran where Moss Landing Road is today. It was converted into a surfboard maker's shop back in the 1950's and 1960's. In the 1970's it was an art gallery, then little antique store throughout the 1980's. It was the Moro Cojo Art gallery again in the 1990's. Lots of history in these old redwood walls!

House is tiny! Do not have expectations for a large space. The square footage is approx 200. There is an induction burner and microwave. No oven, and no toaster.

Where you’ll be

Moss Landing, California, United States

There is a private beach in front of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, 1 block away, where you can let your do run off leash plus an excellent 1 mile loop beach trail along the slough/beach dunes. Moss Landing is a quaint, historic, super sleepy place with an east coast, fishing village feel that you just don't see anywhere. It's like being transported through time into the early 1900's with the westerns facades on all the art galleries and restaurants. It's also home to 3 very famous, awesome restaurants, Phil's Fish Market, that is famous for it's cioppino and live music of bluegrass and rock from Monday’s through thursdays. They have a fun oyster bar too. Then we have the Whole Enchilada and the Haute Enchilada restaurants, 2 huge, beautiful restaurants with delicious food and cocktails. Our house is right across the bridge from them. No need to uber from too many margaritas! Moss Landing is also home to a real thriving fishing community and scientist community with the Cal State University Moss landing Marine Laboratories and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute just a 2 minute walk from the house.
