Set on a country road just minutes from Gedney Farm, this historic house was a school in the 1800s and converted to a home in 1930. It's comfortable, stylish and full of books, movies, and vintage furniture. There's a wonderful large lawn and a brook that's perfect for wading. There's no wifi and spotty cell service (there's a land line) making this a perfect place to unwind, disconnect, and enjoy good times with family and friends. If you need it, the library has 24hr free wifi 2 miles away.

The space

The house is perfect for:
- Families with kids
- Disconnecting and relaxing
- Romantic getaways
- Girls weekends

Guest access

- The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware and pantry staples for cooking and baking
- There is AC in the master bedroom and fans in the other rooms
- Over 100 DVDs of favorite movies and TV shows
- Lots of classic board games including chess, Scrabble, Monopoly, Risk, and more

Interaction with guests

I will be available by phone only.

Other things to note

Again, there is no wifi or cell service here. There's free 24 hour wifi about 2 miles away at the New Marlborough Library. Cell service is spotty in the Berkshires but is often available just up the road.

This was by dar THE BEST airbnb we've ever stayed at! Not only was the place clean and BEAUTIFULLY decorated, it felt homey and comfortable as well. The pillows and blankets were perfect, the dvd selection and pantry items were thoughtfully selected. The photos don't do the property justice. We loved relaxing in the hammock and wading in the river in the back-- we even caught a trout! We will definitely want to stay there again. Thank you, Amy!

This house is a real gem in a very quiet town in the berkshires. It is very clean, comfortable, has a beautiful yard and sits along a stream. It's immaculately decorated while still feeling homey. We enjoyed picking blueberries and snipping lettuce and gourds from the garden. Our children could spend whole days in the yard, catching frogs and caterpillars, and exploring along the stream. The kitchen has anything you need if you like to cook. Plenty of towels and comfortable linens. Fire pit and plenty of wood. Amy is a very gracious and responsive host who was quick to answer any of our questions before or during our visit. We'd love to return someday.

An absolute beauty! So many things to do - hiking, swimming in the falls, or just hanging out and playing games. We loved it. Amy and Greg were readily available. But, we never needed them as their instructions and supplies were complete and thorough. A Gem!!!

Amy's place is really really special. A great lawn to play on, a wonderful deck to relax on; the house is impeccably furnished and decorated, and it's got a really great designer/artist vibe. Great movies and books to peruse as well. We visited the nearby falls and BBQ'd every night; none of us checked our phones and it was excellent. Highly recommend, and we'll be back!

We had the best weekend at this cute little home in the woods! So quiet and peaceful, a perfect escape out in the country. The owners clearly have an eye for mid-century modern decor. Bedding was so incredibly comfy and cozy I actually slept in, which is a rarity for me. My favorite detail about the house was in the 1st floor powder room, the walls were covered in messages and doodles left over the years by the family's friends and guests. It was amazing reading all the funny notes. There clearly has been years of good times at this house, and we feel lucky to have had a weekend of our own there.

What a wonderful treasure of a place. Our family of four (two boys, ages 10 and 15) came here for a little getaway, and it couldn’t have worked out better. There’s a big backyard with a hammock, a garden and a gas grill. One night we did hot dogs and s’mores over the fire pit. The best. The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and there’s a washer/dryer in the basement for longer stays. (Pro tip: Be sure to check out the extensive collection of Simpson’s DVDs.) Amy was great: She gave us detailed directions to the place and a list of restaurants and suggested things to do with the kids. (The candy store in Great Barrington was a particular hit.) There is no internet, but by the end of the weekend, I have to say this had become one of our favorite features…. We all just put our devices away and enjoyed ourselves. (There is a library nearby if you get desperate.) We brought some board games, played in the backyard, and went on one of the walks (to a waterfall!) that Amy had suggested. It’s the comfortable place in the woods that you always wish you’d had. We will be coming back!

I have stayed at many homes booked through Airbnb/(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) over the years and Amy’s home is without a doubt my favorite. It is such charming & cozy home that has been decorated & furnished beautifully. You can just feel the history in the home, and that is has been loved by its owners. The property itself is just magical - right next to a scenic river, with a great fire pit and a big yard perfect for playing outdoor games. It is close enough for a quick jaunt to town, but secluded enough for a truly peaceful weekend escape. Amy was a fantastic host - quick to respond to any messages and very sweet! My friends and I are all so in love with this place that we are already planning our next trip… :) You won’t regret booking a stay in Amy’s home.

Hi, I'm Amy! My husband and I have had a blast sharing our home in New Marlborough for the past 12 years with friends and family. It's a great place to unwind and create sweet memories. I'm a graphic designer and letterpress printer and love gardening, cooking, and the outdoors. Greg (he's also a designer) loves discovering cool stuff at flea markets and has filled the house with his finds. We hope you'll enjoy our cozy home as much as we have.
