Where you’ll be

Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada

Located along excellent walking & biking trails with water views such as the Terry Fox Training & Shoreline Trails. Playgrounds & picnic areas are nearby and we are a short drive from Buntzen lake, Belcarra Picnic Area and White Pine Beach. Located close to the Vancouver suburbs of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby and New Westminster as well as 45 min drive to downtown Vancouver.

This neighbourhood of Port Moody enjoys water views of the Burrard Inlet with surrounding rugged Coast Mountains. Steps away there is a playground that may be useful to travellers with kids. Less than a 10min. walk away is the fabulous Old Orchard park which has a playground, picnic area, covered BBQ area and beach access. Just steps from our place begins a trail suitable for walking, jogging & biking and that leads through a wooded nature area to the Recreation Centre, Library and a good selection of restaurants, coffee shops and amenities. If you walk the trail to its end (50min. from our place) you will arrive at Rocky Point Park, a large popular park on the water. This area has many amenities including a beautiful pier stretching into the inlet, a public Splash park, outdoor swimming pool (open in summer) as well as a Fish & Chip shop and local Breweries. You can also take a local bus to the park or back (Ioco 181) that stops in front of our place.

Two nearby lakes Belcarra & Buntzen lake are less than a 10min. drive away. They are great for swimming & picnics. We are located 45min from downtown Vancouver to the west and we are a reasonable distance to many larger nature parks to the east. As well, Simon Fraser university is 15min. away and we are less than 2 hours from Whistler, along the stunning Sea-to-Sky highway!

I grew up in Ontario, Canada but I spent almost a decade of my adult life living overseas. Most of my time overseas was spent in New Zealand. My family has now settled in Vancouver, Canada almost like the Canada I remember but with a west coast twist. I love the outdoors and I'll be happy to share everything I know about nearby parks & trails with guests. Farmer's markets are appealing to me as well as going fruit picking with my kids. I've spent many years horseback riding and I always like chatting about the sport with anyone who has caught the horse loving bug. Besides living in different countries I have also traveled to Australia, Fiji, Cook Island, Hong Kong, U.S.A, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and Israel. A few countries I'd like to get to are Scotland, Germany and Japan. Thanks for reading my bio, I"m looking forward to hosting you.
