With a convenient 15 minute walk to the cablecar station up the Mount Salève overlooking Geneva and the lake, ideal for hikers, mountain bikers and paragliders (land in the garden at day's end if you're really good! There's a great view of all the aerial action from the chaise lounge on the patio). Also, a 20 minute city bus ride gets you to downtown Geneva or train station. Vegan? Pick your own veggies and cook 'em up in the practical kitchen. Organic gardeners will really appreciate the place.
Semi-private sleeping quarters in well-lit veranda with direct access to patio and garden. During growing season, the large organic gardens are overflowing with fresh veggies. Pick your own and cook 'em up in the practical kitchen (it's included in the price!).
Spring, summer, fall or winter, enjoy the calm, natural beauty of the area under the massive Mont Salève dominating the locality by taking one of the many hiking/running trails along the river Arve, or up the Salève.
Feel free to amble around or settle in just about anywhere in the large house - livingroom, kitchen (where I'll show you what you need to know to cook and to use one of the two refrigerators), or your own dedicated downstairs bathroom. Of course, the backyard and garden are also available to enjoy.
Interaction with guests
Guests usually have their own affairs to attend to, and we respect their space. Nevertheless, not only are we available whenever needed, but enjoy socializing with guests and sharing stories and experience around a bottle or a shared meal. It's your call!
- We remove shoes in the house, but slippers/airline socks are available.
Tim grew up in Tucson, Arizona, where he also got his bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Psychology (double major). Thereafter, came a voyage that finally ended up in Geneva, Switzerland more than 30 years ago. Up until a few years ago, he was an active athlete in the polevault, finishing 4th at the World Veterans Indoor Championships in 2008 in the current world record holder's home stadium. Now, he loves to practice organic gardening, hiking and cooking. If you need tips on getting around Geneva, he knows the nooks and crannies as only someone whose preferred mode of transport is by bicycle can! Tim would be delighted to exchange points of view on culture, politics, sports and travel - so many places he hasn't been yet! Finally, he really tends by principle to bend over backwards and take that extra step to be helpful, in order to provide an excellent experience for others.
Ilona is originally from Kyrgyzstan, but has lived in Geneva for the past 15 years after getting her MA in developmental economics from the University of Reading in the UK. Passionate about dance, the sacred feminine, shamanistic practices and Kyrgyz felt crafts, she speaks (along with Kyrgyz) French, Russian, and English at a near native level.
We have lived together for over 5 years now, and have had many amazing experiences which we would be delighted to share. Burning Man anyone?
