Situated close to Sherborne Abbey, the flat is within easy walking distance of restaurants, pubs, the main shopping street and railway station. The living area is open plan. For families with children please be aware, steep stairs lead up to the twin bedroom and outside metal stairs lead to the flat door. The flat is above a second hand bookshop and coffee shop and there is access to a courtyard. Visitors can browse the bookshop out of hours by arrangement. Next door is a bicycle shop.

The space

There is an electric shower over the bath. The cooker is electric, there is a freezer, a fridge, a washing machine and a table top dishwasher in the kitchen.

Guest access

Access to the flat is via outside metal stairs but there is also a way in from the shop which can be used during opening hours if requested.

Interaction with guests

I run the bookshop and coffee shop below the flat so will be around during the day from Monday to Saturday if anything is needed.

Other things to note

By arrangement, guests are welcome to browse the bookshop out of hours and will receive a 10% discount on all purchases. The bicycle shop next door rents out bikes.

We had a great three night stay here, it had eveything we needed. It's the perfect place to stay and explore Dorset. It's brilliantly located in Sherborne, you can sit outside on a warm evening and hear the bells from the cathedral. Claire was a great host and left us lots of ideas of things to do on our weekend away. Thanks so much Claire for a great stay we'll defiantly come and stay again if we're in the area.

A very enjoyable 3 night stay in the flat above the bookshop. Host Claire met us to run-through the accommodation and explain its Grade II listed quirks! She was otherwise around in the bookshop if needed for anything and was very welcoming and keen to check everything was ok for us. The accommodation was spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable. It is extremely well located, in the centre of gorgeous Sherborne, which is well worth visiting for it’s historic interest, Abbey & Castles, independent shops and some nice cafes and restaurants.

Imagine an 18th century country cottage, but on the first floor and in the middle of a town, and this would perfectly describe Claire's home. It has everything you would need, just add food and wine! We stayed in Sherborne to attend a friends wedding, and this flat couldn't have been better located. 30 seconds walk to the abbey, a minutes walk to an amazing pub, and only 5 minutes walk to the bustling high street. Claire was a fantastic host, making us feel welcome and relaxed from the outset. We will definitely be back, and will make use of the access to the bookshop next time.
