Great location

Whispering Waters is a charming chalet style cabin with authentic cabin decor on Skykomish River in a small rural community just off Cascade Loop Highway in the spectacularly scenic Cascade Mountains 60 miles from Seattle.

The cabin has lots of romantic ambiance with a hot tub, seasonal gas river rock fireplace, loft king bed with river view, and balcony overlooking moss-draped trees.

The cabin is close to great outdoor recreation: hiking, kayaking, skiing, rock climbing, biking, photography.

The space
Whispering Waters is a 600 sq ft woodsy cabin with lots of romantic ambiance. There is a king bed in the loft, as well as a queen bedroom downstairs if you don't want to climb stairs or for a third person. NOTE: There is a $30 cleaning fee if both beds are used when there are only two people.

Open floor plan has full kitchen, dining, and TV/sitting area on the river side of the cabin. Small kitchen is well equipped with most everything you need for cooking, often with some pantry items. The sitting area has a three-season propane fireplace, satellite TV, DVD and Netflix. Bath with small shower.

The year-round covered hot tub is just a few feet from the front door with river and mountain view.

A fire pit right next to the river bank has a great mountain view. Be sure to bring fire wood so you can enjoy an aromatic crackling outdoors fire. Note: burn ban enforced when fire danger is high, common in late summer; rarely when there is poor air quality.

The front porch has a table and chairs, in addition to two rocking chairs overlooking the river.

Bring briquettes if you plan to use the charcoal grill. Charcoal chimney and paper provided so no need for lighter fluid.

Whispering Waters cabin is on a 10 ft high bank about 25 ft from the river, with easy river access via rocks stairs and a short path. There is a rocky beach when the river level is down, most of the year. River will be higher in spring during mountain snow melt, and during heavy rain.

The cabin is cleaned and maintained by the owner, with frequent blocked days for extra deep cleaning. Linens are washed on sanitation setting. All commonly touched surfaced are disinfected. Quilts have currently been replaced with bed coverings that are easier to launder but still attractive.

Where you’ll be

Baring, Washington, United States

Whispering Waters is in the unincorporated rural town of Baring Washington, 60 miles northeast of Seattle, 60 miles west of the Bavarian themed town of Leavenworth, and 23 miles west of Stevens Pass ski area, just off Hwy 2. The cabin is in a semi-private location with cabins across the river and a quiet, full time residence next door. There are no structures immediately on the other two sides with empty lots, fencing, and landscaping to provide privacy.

This is a great place for scenic outdoor photography.

The closest restaurants are in Skykomish 9 miles east; the closest grocery store is in Gold Bar 15 miles west. Gold Bar also has four restaurants and three coffee stands.

The closest hike is a 5 minute drive; several others 10-15 mins away, and many many more if you go a little further. There is also a pleasant walk across the historic suspension bridge, about 1.5 mile round trip to the end of Index Creek Rd.

The area is surrounded by the central-north Cascade Mountains. The cabin's elevation is 775 ft, on the west side of the mountains. You don't drive over Stevens Pass to get to Whispering Waters when coming from the Puget Sound area, but it is easy to get to higher elevations for snow activities if that's what you're looking for. WADOT maintains Hwy 2 well. There will be snow at the cabin when the snow level is approximately 1000 ft. or below.

I have owned and managed numerous vacation cabins since 2009, love the mountains and Skykomish river. Look forward to sharing this incredible cabin with others.

During your stay

I live close by and am available to provide help with many things. Otherwise, I provide privacy unless requested to help with a problem. The hot tub chemistry is checked early every morning (takes about 30 secs), but because of the setting of the tub it is unlikely you would be aware of my presence.
