Ideal for people looking to experience a typical rural community life with nature, peace and wellness.

Ecological sustainability vis a vis permaculture is our primary focus and as our tribe grows, we want to see that ideal take shape. We conduct natural building, soap making, yoga & slow food workshops.

Please note that a 15 minute uphill walk from the main road is required to reach us. While this may be a pleasure for some, it might not be for others. Please make your decision based on that.

The space
This house is called Simplicity and as suggested by the name, it has been completely built with reclaimed and natural materials vis a vis mud, stones, reclaimed wood, beer bottles and old tyres, and bamboo like most of our other structures on the premises. It is a two storeyed structure that overlooks the woods and a stream situated in a peaceful part of the community/farm.

About Gorubathan
Gorubathan is a small settlement situated on the east bank of the River Chel, connecting the Dooars with Kalimpong hills within the Darjeeling District. If you are travelling to the Lava /Lolegaon area through the Dooars, you have to pass through Gorubathan. The place is famous for its market where people from neighboring villages and tea gardens gather every Monday with their small farm produce. For most locals the name of the place is "Sombarey" as the weekly market is organized on Sombar or Monday.

Situated at an altitude of about 1500 feet, it is neither very hot during the summers, nor is it affected by the excess chill of the hills during the winter months. The months of July and August witness maximum rainfall brought in by the Monsoon.

The region is known for its beautiful and unique landscape as the hills meet the plains here as well as the Neora river, mountains and forests, tea gardens and agrarian lifestyle further up the Hills. The village is surrounded by quite a few tea gardens including Sylee, Fagu and Ranicherra Tea Gardens.

Attractions in and around Gorubathan include the Gorumara Wild Life Sanctuary, Fafarkheti, Fagu Tea Garden, the lush pines and hills of Lava, the ancient ruins of Dalim Fort originally built by the Lepcha Kings and the Neora Valley National Park, which is situated north of the region. Gorubathan is placed at a distance of 90 km from Kalimpong, 96 km from Darjeeling and 59 km from Siliguri, 16 kms from Malbazaar railway station, 58 kms from NJP and 72 kms from the Bagdogra Airport.
