Find tranquil peace while you relax within an architectural gem hidden in secluded natural splendor, situated on waterfront property and minutes from quiet 120 acre Fort Point State Park. This unique home has a large ground level with a separate entrance ideal for couples, solo adventurers, families, and small furry friends - at the tip of Penobscot Bay near Sears Island Nature Preserve, midway between Camden and popular destinations Blue Hill, Castine, Acadia National Park, and Bar Harbor.

The space

The listing fee includes the bedroom on the ground level which has one double size bed; loveseat, table and chair - in addition there is also available a cot with an air mattress for no additional cost. There are windows on three sides, a high ceiling and a fan. There is a private bath on that floor. The room has a wifi enabled flat screen tv with Netflix, but not cable. For an additional $75, it's possible to also add one or two more people in a second bedroom, which is a 4th floor art studio that has gorgeous water views, a double wooden framed futon, and its own deck (but no bathroom on that level. There is another full bath on the 2nd floor). The studio also has a comfortable loveseat, a large drafting table and shelves with art supplies (but no closets or dresser drawers). If you are interested in adding the 4th floor studio, please choose more than 3 people for correct pricing.

Guest access

Guests will have complete privacy on the first floor of the house. There is a door to a large deck on that level which has a table and 4 chairs. The second level kitchen has access limited to noon for breakfast/brunch; outside the kitchen there is a deck with seating that is a lovely spot in the morning. If it's too cool or rainy you are welcome to use the table in the open space concept living/dining area for your meal. Guests can help themselves to continental breakfast makings: coffee and tea, variously bread/toast/rolls/bagels with organic butter, several different jams, cream cheese, juices, fresh fruit, granola and milk are typically stocked. You can also store items in the fridge and are welcome to ice and sparkling water any time. Please leave dishes in the sink! I will take care of them.

Interaction with guests

I live upstairs and am generally available and happy to interact, and help with logistics. I have prepared a list of links to local parks and museums to visit, restaurants, shopping, sport equipment rentals and so forth which I can email to guests upon booking. My Papillon puppy Camus and I are very sociable and love having other small pets visit.

Other things to note

Please be aware that your gps may tell you that you have arrived before you actually reach the house, which is at the very end of a private right of way. Please don't stop and ask the neighbors! Keep going, I promise you will recognize the house when you arrive - it's 4 stories high and unmistakable. Also there is plenty of parking and space to turn around, so don't be afraid to drive all the way down our lovely forested lane.

Gail's place is the type of place which makes Airbnb shine. She is knowledgeable of local cuisines, amicable to live with, entertaining to talk to. She recommended several fancy restaurants to dine in, welcomed us with open arms and even provided us with great breakfast. The morning fog that morning prevents us seeing the sea but the house itself is a beauty. Her dog is very well behaved and quickly made friends with our two little ones.

Our stay at The Pagoda House went beyond our expectations! Gail was a wonderful host who welcomed us in and made us feel right at home. From the snacks she provided for us upon arrival to the comb and tape she let us borrow to remove the ticks from our dog, we had everything we needed. As our first Airbnb experience, it has definitely set the bar high!

Gail was a very nice host! She lent my girlfriend a blow dryer and left us lots of snacks. The location was a little remote, but was accessible with our rental car. Cute doggy too! Thanks!

Gail is truly a wonderful host along with her great little pup. Her home is breathtaking and she had everything we could possibly need ready for us. The house is set back off the main road a bit but allows for wonderfully quiet mornings and a lovely view from the deck. We wish we could have stayed longer!

This is indeed a very special and precious place! Gail is a very kind host, and her place is special in all regards: from the architecture, furniture, and everything in the house is so well equipped. The sea is just a couple minutes by foot, and the location is absolutely idyllic: no traffic is audible, it is a place of perfect solitude. We were free to use the grill on the deck for preparing our dinner, so we did a barbecue and also cooked corn on the grill. Communication with Gail was very clear, and, as she lives upstairs, she was at home when we got there and opened the door. No key codes or anything required. This is a "real" Airbnb experience in the old and good spirit of Airbnb! Thank you for everything!

Gail is a warm person and great host. Her home is filled with beautiful things and she shares it with ease. We loved our stay and hope to return someday. Her cute dog is a bonus.

Gail was a wonderful host, and made our stay comfortable, and travel to the house informed (the nearest food options are near Belfast). Her dog Camus was cute and excited -- not overly excited, unless you ring the doorbell (warning). I highly recommend a visit!
