Find tranquil peace while you relax within an architectural gem hidden in secluded natural splendor, situated on waterfront property and minutes from quiet 120 acre Fort Point State Park. This unique home has a large ground level with a separate entrance ideal for couples, solo adventurers, families, and small furry friends - at the tip of Penobscot Bay near Sears Island Nature Preserve, midway between Camden and popular destinations Blue Hill, Castine, Acadia National Park, and Bar Harbor.
The listing fee includes the bedroom on the ground level which has one double size bed; loveseat, table and chair - in addition there is also available a cot with an air mattress for no additional cost. There are windows on three sides, a high ceiling and a fan. There is a private bath on that floor. The room has a wifi enabled flat screen tv with Netflix, but not cable. For an additional $75, it's possible to also add one or two more people in a second bedroom, which is a 4th floor art studio that has gorgeous water views, a double wooden framed futon, and its own deck (but no bathroom on that level. There is another full bath on the 2nd floor). The studio also has a comfortable loveseat, a large drafting table and shelves with art supplies (but no closets or dresser drawers). If you are interested in adding the 4th floor studio, please choose more than 3 people for correct pricing.
Guests will have complete privacy on the first floor of the house. There is a door to a large deck on that level which has a table and 4 chairs. The second level kitchen has access limited to noon for breakfast/brunch; outside the kitchen there is a deck with seating that is a lovely spot in the morning. If it's too cool or rainy you are welcome to use the table in the open space concept living/dining area for your meal. Guests can help themselves to continental breakfast makings: coffee and tea, variously bread/toast/rolls/bagels with organic butter, several different jams, cream cheese, juices, fresh fruit, granola and milk are typically stocked. You can also store items in the fridge and are welcome to ice and sparkling water any time. Please leave dishes in the sink! I will take care of them.
Interaction with guests
I live upstairs and am generally available and happy to interact, and help with logistics. I have prepared a list of links to local parks and museums to visit, restaurants, shopping, sport equipment rentals and so forth which I can email to guests upon booking. My Papillon puppy Camus and I are very sociable and love having other small pets visit.
Other things to note
Please be aware that your gps may tell you that you have arrived before you actually reach the house, which is at the very end of a private right of way. Please don't stop and ask the neighbors! Keep going, I promise you will recognize the house when you arrive - it's 4 stories high and unmistakable. Also there is plenty of parking and space to turn around, so don't be afraid to drive all the way down our lovely forested lane.
Check in and check out times are very flexible depending on other pending reservations. Don't hesitate to ask if you prefer earlier or later times. Small dogs only please; no cats. Dogs are not allowed on the upholstered furniture upstairs in the living/dining area (it's fine in your room). If they are going to scratch the door or otherwise misbehave when you are not in the room with them, they will need a crate. Yes, it has happened. Absolutely NO DRONES. Do I need to say this? Apparently so! :)
