Two-bedroom, two bath cabin eight miles south of Boone, North Carolina on Highway 105 in the Watauga River Valley. Fifteen minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Blowing Rock. A large covered wrap-around porch offers the best sittin' in the Blue Ridge and a pleasing mountain view. Enjoy your solitude or entertain in the spacious great room. Many popular attractions are nearby.

The space

The cabin has two bedrooms. There are two twin beds in the first bedroom and a queen-sized bed in the second. (We also have one twin air mattress with additional bedding.) Each bedroom has its own washroom with a shared tub area between them. We provide clean bedding, towels, washcloths, hand towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you need. We also provide paper towels, place-mats, and napkins. There is a charcoal grill available for outside cooking.

Guests may use the laundry facilities in the basement level.

There is a flat-screen TV with basic cable channels, wi-fi, and a house phone that can be used for local and long distance (USA) calls.

The house is wheel-chair accessible, there is a grab-bar for the tub, and a safety gate at the top of the stairs.

Guest access

Guests can access the great room, kitchen, bedrooms, baths, laundry room, and deck. The long driveway can even provide a pleasant stroll. We welcome families, but we do wish to add a word of caution if you are bringing very young children. The wrap-around deck is one of the wonderful things about the cabin, but on the backside, it sits twenty feet above the ground. Young children should NEVER, EVER be left on the deck unsupervised.

Winter is Coming. Please take note. The roads in our neighborhood can be traversed by any vehicle in any season EXCEPT in snow or ice. During winter events, four-wheel drive is ABSOLUTELY necessary. (The roads are scraped, but gravel roads cannot be salted.) Two-wheel drive vehicles CANNOT get to the cabin if the roads are snow-covered and even four-wheel drive vehicles may not be enough if there is ice or snow deeper than 4 inches or so.

Interaction with guests

We live in the neighborhood and are available to troubleshoot, give directions, and be generally helpful, but unless you need us, we tend to leave our guests to themselves.

Other things to note

Are you an Outlander fan? According to author Diana Gabaldon, the fictitious Fraser’s Ridge "is nestled in an area north of the Yadkin River between the towns of Boone and Blowing Rock, North Carolina, near Grandfather Mountain, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina." That would be, well, right here! How fun is that?

Trees block the view but overall nice place. The deck is a great place to enjoy the tranquility of nature.

Beautiful home and great location. We only got to spend one night, but it was a great base to get to visit the different stops along the Blue Ridge Parkway (including the Linville Falls). Home was very clean with a great view on the deck. Susan was very accomodating and easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay there again! :)

Susan's house is sparklingly clean, has a lovely view, and is warm and very cozy. We stayed here for an ASU football game weekend and it was perfect! It was nice to be just enough outside of Boone that we were able to enjoy the autumn colors and the mountain views without all of the traffic of town. I look forward to staying here again on our next trip up to Boone.

The pictures do not do justice to how beautiful Susan's place is! It was very well equipped for all our needs. The kitchen is especially well equipped! Susan gave us explicit instructions of how to get there. Overall the experience was amazing and we hope to do it again.

This is a wonderful, quite, secluded place. Yet it is not to far from the good eats and attractions. We loved our stay here and would love to go back!!!!!

A nice cabin on a ridge, surrounded by trees and peaceful. Well supplied, even lap blankets! Do NOT follow (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) directions, see the host's email for the final bit of navigation.
