Lushly green, no-through traffic village, Stenies where the famous Andros ship-owners come from, is 15min. walk from Yialia beach and 40 minutes from Hora the capital. Alternatively, driving to Hora is about 5-7 minutes.
The very green and picturesque village of Stenies, perched on the hills overlooking the bay of Kato Yialia is where most of Andros’s shipping magnates come from. Stenies is only 7 minutes away by car from Hora, the capital of Andros. The beaches of Kato and Pera Yialia are within walking distance barely 15 minutes away. The stone-built house where the flats are located was constructed in the 1920’s. It underwent a 4-year extensive renovation only recently completed. The first floor flat is used by the owner as a holiday flat. The two ground floor flats on rental are about 55sq.m each.They are fully furnished of identical layout. Each consists of one bedroom with double bed, a large sitting room with a double sofa-bed, a dining room leading to an open kitchen and a shower/wc room. A very spacious, sea-facing veranda, is ideal to sit out to eat and drink and enjoy the panoramic views of the village and the sea.
Very comfortable dwelling, beautiful views, excellent walks round the village, no cars/motorcycles, fresh air, cool climate.
Interaction with guests
I do not live in the area but I am always a phone call away. I have a very reliable caretaker called Mirella who will meet you and take you to the house, show you round and give you keys. If she cannot offer satisfactory answers to any of your inquiries, do not hesitate to call me...
Other things to note
We named the apartments KARMI Apartments because when we first saw Stenies it reminded us of the village of Karmi in Kyrenia, where my wife comes from, now sadly in occupied Cyprus...
- You need to walk about 400m from the village car park and go up 50 steps to reach the apartment. This may not be easy carrying infants or being physically handicapped.
- There's only limited shopping of bare essentials in the village. A rented car is highly recommended for this and other reasons.
