We fell in love with Hayward for the same reason so many people do: the lakes, the quiet, the slower pace, and how easy it is to feel connected to nature.
The Cabin for Two sits at the end of a private road on a small wilderness lake, surrounded by county forest. Wildlife is part of daily life here. Loons call across the water, swans and other waterfowl pass through, and deer regularly move through the yard. In the warmer months, bears occasionally travel through the area.

Favorite Amenities
Wood-Fired + Electric Hot Tub
The outdoor cedar hot tub seats five and sits on the patio overlooking the lake, staying hot even in the coldest weather.
Electric heat keeps it ready no matter the conditions, and the wood-fired stove adds the part people love most. A small fire, the sound of wood cracking, the smell of cedar warming, steam rising into cold air, and the lake wrapping around you as you soak. It’s especially memorable in winter, when you can tub while snow falls all around.
Pit Couch + Projector
The upstairs loft works as both a lounge and a sleeping space.
By day, the pit couch is the coziest spot to curl up with a good book, stretch out with a cup of coffee, play games, or spend time watching the woods through the floor-to-ceiling windows. By night, it converts into a large king-size sleeping area where you can settle in and watch movies projected onto the wall.
The Island & Private Lake
A cedar boardwalk leads to a tiny “island” or peninsula just off the shoreline.
In warmer months, the island is set up with canoes, kayaks, a paddle board, a firepit, and hammocks. Water surrounds the space, with wide views across the lake. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon, have a fire, or watch loons, beavers, and other wildlife. While you *can* jump in and take a swim in the middle of the lake, please know this is mostly a wilderness lake that’s great for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, etc.
In winter, the lake becomes part of the experience. Bring snowshoes, cross-country skis, or ice skates. It’s a great place for skating, skiing, and exploring the frozen lake during the day, then heading back to the hot tub to warm up.
Gas Fireplace
The gas fireplace makes the cabin feel extra cozy during fall and winter stays.
It sits in the main living area near the big windows, so you can warm up after a snowy walk, a cold-weather hot tub soak, or a slow morning with coffee and a book. It adds that classic cabin feeling without the work of building a fire.
Reading, Games & Quiet Time
Books are a big part of this cabin. A full floor-to-ceiling bookcase runs along the wall, filled with books and games across a wide range of genres, giving you plenty to choose from whether you’re in the mood to read, play, or just browse.
Upstairs, a built-in reading bench lines the window. It’s padded and tucked right against the glass, making it a comfortable spot to read, nap, or watch the light change on the lake and trees. At night, binoculars are available for stargazing and spotting constellations through the open sky.
Cooking, Coffee & Drinks
The kitchen is stocked for home chefs, with quality cookware and utensils for real meals.
There’s a Rocco fridge that works as a small bar setup. The top serves as a bar cart for pouring drinks, and the fridge below holds wine, sparkling water, and other beverages.
The coffee setup includes fresh beans, a grinder, an espresso machine, pour-over options, and a drip coffee maker.

The cabin is located on Devil’s Lake, a quiet private 35-acre wilderness lake about 10 miles south of Hayward. The lake is surrounded by hardwood forest and county land, with no public access and no motorized boats. It stays calm and peaceful, making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding in the warmer months.
The surrounding area is full of opportunities for day trips and outdoor adventures. The Namekagon River is nearby for paddling, swimming, and riverside hikes. There are countless lakes throughout the region for exploring and swimming, along with miles of trails for hiking and biking.
You’re also within easy driving distance of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands, especially popular in summer for kayaking, boat tours, and exploring the Lake Superior shoreline. Nearby towns like Spooner and Stone Lake offer local restaurants, shops, and small-town stops along the way.
