My place is good for couples and solo adventurers.
5 miles from the sea at North Berwick where there is water sports, the seabird centre, wonderful scenic golf courses including Muirfield along the coast. The national museum of flight is a short distance away. The John Muir way is a short walk away, with great cycling routes. Edinburgh is 40 minutes away by train,
We may not always be here in the morning to cook breakfast, but you are welcome to help yourselves to coffee and toast etc.

Interaction with guests

We're happy to help in any way we can with advice on tourist attractions etc.

Other things to note

Just a short train ride away, Edinburgh hosts its world famous festivals, including Jazz and the ever popular "Fringe" Festival.
The National museum of flight, just a short distance away hosts their ever popular airshow (The planes often use our house to turn over).
North Berwick also hosts the "Fringe by the Sea", a smaller version of the Edinburgh festival, now attracting well known artists.

John is a super host and his two cats Bruce and Rosie are delightful. We really enjoyed our stay and John did everything to make us welcome in his friendly home. It was great value, included a nice breakfast and is in a lovely rural location but not far from the coast and the bustling town of North Berwick. We can thoroughly recommend a stay with John and hope to return in the not too distant future.

A cosy place with a friendly, welcoming host who went the extra mile with the breakfast he put out for us. Thanks, John

A very welcoming host and an oasis on our long journey. Lovely rural setting surrounded by farmland. Nice and simple (but totally adequate) breakfast of cerals, fruit and toast included. Convenient to drive into Edinburgh, explore the north East Lothian coast and visit the Museum of Flight. Excellent value - we would stay here again.

John is very friendly, considerate and easy to stay with. I particularly enjoyed the rural location, with smashing views of the East Lothian landscape. The two cats were also very welcoming and fun to have around! John's home is clean, simple and far from the madding crowd. Within 20 minutes, you can enjoy some of the loveliest landscapes and beaches in the UK. Edinburgh is only 40 minutes away too.

John is a lovely host, kind, warm and easygoing. We were greeted by two very friendly cats. The accommodation is simple and homely (John is sharing his home with visitors, in the true spirit of Airbnb! It's a great base for exploring the wonderful countryside and coastline of East Lothian, and good value for money. We enjoyed our brief stay. Thank you John!
