The Rio Grande Rambler is located just one mile from the Terlingua Ghostown and 6 miles from both State & National Parks. There is several WIFI signals here.
There is also a full size bathouse with shower / sink/ toilet and very cool common area with lots of shade, ceiling fans, washer & dryer, big wash basin, three tables, a big map viewing table, lots of parking, a complimentary guitar, spotting & telescopes, an outdoor and indoor cooking areas & much more
The Rio Grande Rambler has wonderful views that you can enjoy from the outside picnic table. Don't be fooled by BNBs that are very far away and have no water or electricity. We are on city water and electricity here. The sunset and sunrise views are spectacular. An outside Coleman gas stove is already setup along with a Chemania fire pot for those wanting a camping type atmosphere outside of the Bunkhouse during your visit of the Big Bend. Firewood and just about anything you would need is at the Cottonwood Grocery Store.
The main living space has surround sound, wi-fi and a flat screen TV.
The kitchen space comes with a microwave oven, a Keurig coffee maker with Coffee, paper towels and plates along with plastic ware, trash bags, coffee cups, dish towel and dish soap are provided as well.
In the restroom we provide body soap and shampoo /conditioner, toilet paper and a hand towel. Guests are required to bring their own blankets (or sleeping bags and sheets) and bath towels they may need. We provide very nice pillows with cases. Water in the desert is very precious and this reduces the burden of water use for laundering out here.
The entire Bunkhouse is for guests to access. Great for Bikers, Cyclists, Hikers or any other Group. You can't ask for much more at this price and convenient location. There is a large covered common area for guests to use along with a gas grill, full size griddle grill and a charcoal grill also. Lots of room for parking, private patio for guests to share with a Chimenia and a full size Bath House on site for all guests to use.
Interaction with guests
If you need any info re the Big Bend area or need suggestions please feel free to contact me. The RGR Bunkhouse is a fantastic setup at a fantastic price. This is a new BNB ...everyone who has stayed with us has absolutely loved it. A recent film crew stayed in the Bunkhouse & loved the layout and roominess the Bunkhouse offered for all of their cameras and gear inside. Conveniences all around and the huge common area & full outdoor covered kitchen adds a huge value to make the Bunkhouse a great BNB.
Other things to note
The Bunkhouse has fully functional bathroom and shower, kitchen, AC/ Heat, Flatscreen TV with BlueRay DVD, Keurig Coffee Maker, Bluetooth Stereo, Crock Pot, Microwave Oven and much more. Basics like nice big coffee cups, cooking utensils, paper bowls and plates etc are all provided.
Guests are required to bring their own towel & bedding (very nice "Spa Pillows" with cases are provided). Water is very precious in the Chihuahua Desert, this is why we encourage guests to bring their own bedding and towels. All beds have protective covers on them. Sleeping bags work great to just throw-n-go on the beds.
The RGR will be clean and ready to go before guests arrival. The guests will be responsible for their own daily cleaning.
Cooking on the inside stove is unavailable. A Coleman stove and propane are provided for guests to cook outside. A few basic pots & pans as well as cooking utensils, plastic silverware, nice big coffee cups, paper towels, paper plates and aluminum foil are provided. Many guests enjoy the fantastic restaurants in the Ghostown, La Jitas, Study Butte, La Kiva and the National Park so we do not focus on a big cooking experience at the RGR Bunkhouse. The Cottonwood Store across the street does have almost any cooking item you may need as well as a very nice selection of organic foods and drinks.
Guests are required to bring their own bedding. Most guests prefer to bring sleeping bags so they can just "throw-n-go". We provide very comfy pillows with cases. All beds are queen size except the single bunk.
The Rio Grande Rambler will be clean before guests arrival.
Cooking on the inside stove is not available. There is a microwave inside the Bunkhouse as well as a big outdoor cooking kitchen under a metal roof that's attached to a large indoor common area (described above) all guests are welcomed and encouraged to use for bathing, cooking, socializing etc.
This adds an incredible value to booking the Bunkhouse.
