OUTDOOR SPACES 🌲
Step outside and you're directly on the forest trails of Kilbury Bird Sanctuary. Terraces, winding garden paths, and hidden seating nooks designed for solitude or conversation. The Star Deck is our open-sky pause point — for dusk tea, blankets, silence and, on clear nights, the grandeur of the Milky Way.
LIVING WITH NATURE 🦋 : The Slow House sits inside Kilbury Bird Sanctuary, which means the boundary between inside and outside is gentler here than in a city home. You may see the occasional moth, beetle, or forest fly resting on a curtain or window , these are harmless residents of the oak forest, and part of why birdlife thrives at the property. None of them bite or sting. If anything ever feels out of place, the housestaff is just a call away.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD: PANGOT
“The village that time forgot.”
Just 15 km from Nainital — around 45 minutes by road — yet a different universe entirely.
🦜 Ornithological Haven, Kilbury Zone: We are located directly inside the bird sanctuary zone. Wake to a symphony of nature. Pangot is world-renowned for 580+ bird species. Dawn walks often yield 40–50 species sightings right outside our gate.
🌲 Ancient Forests: Blanketed in ancient oak and pine, the air here smells of woodsmoke and crisp earth. Visit March–May to see the rhododendrons paint the hills crimson.
🥾 Walks & Trails: Step out the door directly onto nature trails. Whether it is gentle village walks or the trek to Cheena Peak and Kilbury, the landscape invites exploration.
🤫 The Defining Luxury: Silence. Profound quiet, broken only by the wind through Deodars and bird calls. This is what city dwellers come here to remember.

OTHER DETAILS
🧣 The Himalayan Micro-Climate: Pangot is a high-altitude sanctuary. Even in summer, the evenings can carry a distinct chill, and the weather can turn misty and romantic without warning. We recommend packing layers and warm socks to fully enjoy the cozy interiors and crisp outdoor decks.
🦋 Living with Nature: Our porous boundary with the forest means we share this space with nature. You may encounter the occasional moth or beetle — harmless residents of the oak forest. We ask that you embrace these small visitors as part of the authentic forest experience.
🤫 The Architecture of Silence: Our home uses Vedic lime plaster and acoustics designed for quietude. Sound travels differently here. We invite you to become conscious of the noise you create, allowing the silence of the valley to remain the dominant soundtrack.
