My home is three blocks from the Victorian Village of Ferndale, with coffee lounges, restaurants, a repertory theater and wonderful, unique shops. The house is a cozy, mid-century ranch-style where guests can relax in the living room, sunroom or even on a small deck overlooking the garden. A perfect spot for couples, solo adventurers, or business travelers.
There is no TV in this guest room but you're welcome to watch it in the family room. I have a piano that would enjoy being played.

The space

This room is fairly large, with 2 rocking chairs to relax in. There is no TV in this room, but I have books and magazines to read. Not enough of them? Just ask, I have many on the history of Ferndale.

Guest access

I have another guest room that maybe occupied the same time as you are visiting. You may possibly be sharing breakfast with the other guests during your stay. This is a wonderful way to meet new people.

Interaction with guests

I live on the premises, so I will be there to welcome my guests. I will also be available to interact with them and share my knowledge of the history of our town.

Other things to note

While visiting our town you should know that we have a lot of things that are interesting to everyone. One of the favorites is the Ferndale Cemetery, which was established in 1868. It a Protestant cemetery and you will find many duplicate names, originating from Denmark, as well as common Ango-Saxo names. Walking through the neighborhoods you will see beautiful Victorian homes that were built in the late 1800's into the 1900's. We are 5 miles from the ocean, halfway between the north and south redwoods, and gateway to the lost Coast. Our main street, with a variety of shops and restaurants, reveals happy friendly people, in a peaceful secluded Valley.
There are not many places to eat on Mondays. If you plan to visit on that day, be sure to have your dinner before coming to Ferndale.

Eunice is a wonderful hostess. We enjoyed having leisurely breakfasts and chatting with her for hours, at breakfast and in the evenings. If you want space, she will give you privacy. However, if you'd like to know more about Ferndale, Eunice has lived here all her life and is has a wealth of knowledge. She told us many stories about this great Victorian town. We found out that Guy Fieri was from Ferndale and she gave us some interesting (URL HIDDEN) about him as a youngster - including an alarming incident. We felt very welcomed and relaxed in her home as she made it ours for four days. Thanks Eunice!

Eunice is a terrific hostess who welcomes you into her home with her kind manner. We stayed in a bedroom with a private bathroom at one end of the house. She showed us another at the opposite end. They are both lovely and either would be fine for us. Her location is within walking distance to Main Street. This was our first adventu;re to Ferndale for their Concours d'Elegance on Main and Eunice helped to make it an absolute delightful and memorable experience for us. We had some great conversations with her and learned about her life in Ferndale and the best places for dining etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend her home for a pleasant stay. She is quite a gal and you will like her and feel welcome as soon as you meet her. We made a friend in Ferndale and look forward to future stays with her.

Eunice is a fabulous host! My private room with bathroom was exactly what I needed so I could walk downtown and meet my old high school classmates in town for our reunion. Eunice's kitchen and living room were great spaces for us to visit with another guest and our host. Wonderful breakfast, including plums right off the tree in the yard. It was like staying with a favorite Auntie!

Searching for a place to stay in the Ferndale/Eureka region? See if Eunice has a room for you! She's the best host on Airbnb and such a wonderful person. We were lucky enough to enjoy her great hospitality and a beautiful and clean room in her house, along with very interesting conversations and awesome tips and directions for the region. She even lit a fire in her backyard for us, so we could sit outside and enjoy the evening. Oh and the plums... mmhh.... :) Thank you very much for the great time, Eunice, and we'll be back!

Eunice is a fantastic host and did everything in her ability to make me comfortable and welcome. Her house is lovely and the room and bathroom are large and well equipped. Central ferndale is a 2 minute walk. Eunice made me a fresh fruit salad with toast, coffee and juice too. What a total treat. I would recommend anyone go stay here - it is by far the best place I've ever stayed.

Hello. I am a recently widowed grandma, native of the Eel River Valley. A second generation descendent of the Danes who were the pioneer families of this region. I've been active for decades in the Danish lodges and at the Danish church, Lutheran. A former piano teacher, I presently sing with a local choral group. I work part time for the Ferndale Museum and our Historical Cemetery.
I am also the mom, grandma, and great grandma of a widely diverse group of folks, and I welcome the same diversity into my home.
