The space

Immerse yourself in nature at the heart of the Apennines mountains
100 Km from Rome

I am renting out my cottage in a recently restored 19th century sheepfold offering modern conveniences.
The cottage is located in a chestnut grove nestled in the mountains.
At 700 m above sea level you will enjoy stunning, panoramic views.
If you are a nature lover, rather sporty, in search of peaceful serenity you will love the place.
There is neither TV nor WiFi but you will be connected to an unspoiled nature.
The mobile coverage works fine so you are always contactable and, if needed, you can always use a 3G or 4G stick.

Location:
+/- 100 Km South of Rome, mid way between Rome and Naples.
The cottage is located 1KM away from a secured parking lot. It is accessible via a footpath (30 min. away up hill from the parking lot) and via an access road for 4-wheel drive vehicles (10 min. away from the parking lot). On request I can take care of delivering your groceries once or twice a week for a minimal charge.

Equipment:
The cottage offers a good level of comfort including 80m2 of living space, hot and cold running water and electricity.
Living room: Leather sofa and armchair.
Kitchen: Fridge, gas hop, mini electric oven, toaster, crockery, washing up liquids, cleaning products.
Bathroom: Sink, shower, toilet bowl, bath towels, shampoo, soap, hairdryer, standing dryer.
2 Bedrooms: Double bed, linen.
Mezzanine: 2 single beds, linen.
Shed: tools, etc...

The cherries on the top:

The intact surrounding nature.

The breathtaking view overlooking the Valcomino valley (Valle di Comino).
The 75m2 pond where, in the summer time, you will see beautiful flowering water lilies. Note that the pond is unfit for bathing.

The hot tub under the shade of a tree, so you can relax while admiring the breathtaking view of the valley.

The external solar shower.

The barbecue.

The seasonal fruits available for you to pick: figs, prunes, walnuts, chestnuts.

Logistics:
On your arrival and departure I will personally take care of driving you and your luggage to and from the cottage with a 4-wheel drive car.
On request I can take care of delivering your groceries on the spot once or twice a week for a small charge.
Walking at an average pace, it will take you about 30 min. to walk from the cottage to the nearest bar and 45 min. to reach the village of Atina.

Activities:
If you are a sporty nature lover and you are in search of relaxation, peace and quiet, the cottage and its surroundings will be perfect for you.

If you are a walker, hiking in the surrounding mountains can be organised.

If you are a keen walker of a good level, or a biker, you will be able to reach nearby famous hiking trails such as Via Francigena and Cammino di San Benedetto ( St Benedict trail or also called the Abbeys trail).

Although the local gastronomy and cultural heritage are very rich, Atina and the Valcomino valley are relatively unknown touristic destinations, so you still have time to discover an authentic and little-known spot of Italy.

In summer many festivals and popular events are organised by various villages of Valle di Comino (Atina, Alvito, Casalattico, Casalvieri, Gallinaro, Picinisco, San Biagio Saracinisco, San Donato, Settefrati, Vicalvi, Villa Latina,...).
Why not start learning Italian so that you can get the best of your visit? Don't worry, in case of emergency, I will be around to help you out with the Italian language.

To find out more about the area look on internet for:
Comune di Atina (Frosinone)
Val di Comino (visitvaldicomino)
Ciociariaturismo
Viefrancigene
Viefrancigene del sud
Cammino di benedetto

Now if you wish to extend your visit, remember that, with its 51 sites on UNESCO's Humanity World Heritage list, Italy is the country with the major number of cultural and architectural treasures in the world.
Some famous destinations are close to Valle di Comino and can be visited in a day and back either by road or rail:
Rome: Ciampino airport, 75 min., Fiumicino, 90 min.
Naples: Capodichino airport, 60 min.
Gulf of Gaeta on the Tyrrhenian sea: Sperlonga, Pontine isles... +/- 60 min.
Natural Parc of Abruzzo, Lazio, Molise: 45 min.

Whether you will be travelling alone, as a couple or with friends, be prepared to experience an authentic and enriching stay that you will not forget.

See you soon,
Benoit.

A bientôt.
Benoit.

We had a fantastic weekend in this lovely cottage! The view from the garden is breathtaking. Total relax! Benoit is an amazing host ( a welcome basket filled with local goodies was much appreciated) - he was in regular contact with us from the moment we booked - very helpful and kind. He even warned us about possible bad weather so that we were prepared (in the end we were really lucky, it only rained during the night). Renovating this cottage has obviously been a labour of love for Benoit. He cares very much about the cottage, the landscape, the whole area and he wants to share all of this with his guests. The cottage is well-equipped with everything you could possibly need (including a hot tub - great after a day of hiking) I would advise guests to take plenty of food though (or let Benoit know what you need and he will do a grocery shop for you before you arrive). Guests should note (it is actually clear in the description but some may overlook all the details) that you cannot take your own car with you up to the cottage. Benoit will take you to his house where you can leave your car and then he takes you up to the cottage in his jeep. Guests shouldn't be put off by this at all - Benoit will keep in touch and will come up to the cottage if you have any problems. He even offered to accompany us on a hike so that we wouldn't get lost! There are lots of interesting walks to do in the nearby vicinity and some beautiful little towns to visit. We didn't know much about this area at all...we booked the cottage because we wanted to visit nearby Monte (URL HIDDEN) it was a revelation to discover the beauty of Valle del Comino. We will definitely be going back. For nature lovers, this is a must! You won't be disappointed.

Our stay at Benoit's was absolutely amazing. Upon arrival we were greeted, welcomed warmly and then driven up to the hut. We came pretty hungry from our long drive and Benoit had, without us asking for it, prepared some delicious local cheeses and ham and some of his home-made vine (a must-try)! The hut itself and its surroundings are beautifully renovated - not speaking of the view and the hot tub which are simply incredible! One can really feel the years Benoit has dedicated to make this place into what it is now. Benoit was more than "just" a host as he showed us personally around Atina (the closest town) and gave us excellent recommendations of what to do and where to visit. The hut is positioned in a not very touristic area between Rome and Naples which makes it the perfect starting point for daily excursions. I can absolutely recommend anyone, who is willing to walk up a few meters, this beautiful hut. You will surely have a great time!

Grazie mille & arrivederci !
