Light, bright, & flexible 2nd story guest suite in a quiet neighborhood. Off-street parking w/private entrance opens to small common room downstairs with windows that overlook a lush back yard garden. It has a pellet stove, microwave, coffeemaker, snacks, small table & half size fridge, and a couch/bench made from 2 thick foam fold-out pads. No real kitchen. Then upstairs there is a large bedroom & sitting area with a private bathroom, two beds (Queen flat + folding futon), and outdoor veranda.

The space

Everything in the Veranda Suite is yours to use and enjoy while you are here. It is a relatively private space, divided from the rest of the house.

The main floor has an eating area, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, snacks & drinks, and two "Ikea style" foam, single size, chair/beds/mattress pads. A wood/pellet stove is easy to use and fuel is provided. No "real" kitchen.

The rest of the beds, a desk area, a beautiful, modern 3/4 bathroom, and an open air porch (The Veranda) are upstairs.

Guest access

The Veranda Suite is easily accessible through the west (left) side door. Park in front of the garage, come thru the chain link gate, and go to the white metal door with a window towards the back of the house. (Key instructions will be given once reservation is confirmed)

Laundry is available by request. It is just on the other side of the door by the pellet stove at main level. Please let me know in advance if you know you will want to use the laundry facilities? ALSO, you can "lock" this door if you want privacy. (If you don't lock it I may knock and introduce myself when I come home!)

(Once your reservation is confirmed, please send me a note with your preferred, traveling cell phone # so I can text, chat, or email you arrival instructions per your preference.)

Interaction with guests

The Veranda is fairly independent of the main house. It is private and connected to my home only thru the laundry room. As for social interaction... I can get quite busy during the week, but I do like to meet my guests and share a coffee, dinner or breakfast if you are interested and here for a long-ish visit. Just let me know your preference :-]

Dogs are allowed for a fee of $10 per night. There is a fenced side yard & medium-small pet door for access if yours is amenable. Please provide water at all times and be courteous of barking.

Other things to note

House Rules

Extra people or pets may be allowed with advance arrangements and a fee of $10 per night.

I appreciate peace & consciousness. No yelling, loud phone calls, gossiping, bickering, or aggressive behavior. Please don't leave dog's alone if they will bark a lot. There is no smoking in the house, but you can do so on the Veranda if it is light /occasional (Smoke travels... The east side of the Veranda is just a few feet from my living room window!) I have a fire pit in the back yard where you are also welcome to build a fire, sit and relax, or smoke... whatever comes naturally from the earth.
I am sensitive to artificial scents and strong cleaning agents, so I use mostly natural cleaners & non-toxic pesticides in my home. I ask guest to PLEASE do not apply strongly fragrant and/or petroleum chemical based perfumes, colognes, strong deodorants, or aftershaves in the house. If you can step outside to apply or wait until you leave it will help keep this space chemical free.

If you need Balloon Fiesta lodging: LOOK NO FURTHER! Chris's place was perfect for our mother/daughter/sister weekend to see the Balloon Fiesta. The three of us loved staying here. Chris was a great host: very easy to get in touch with and very flexible about check in time (due to our late night landing at the airport). The beds were comfy. There was plenty of supplies (toiletries, snacks, dinnerware, linens, etc). And you can't beat the location: It was a 5 minute drive to the Balloon Fiesta Park and you could see the ascensions and fireworks right from her street. I would absolutely stay here again if my travels bring me back to ABQ. Thank you so much for hosting us and helping to make our long weekend so awesome!

A great, cozy little place in a rustic part of town. The Veranda is a lovely place to unwind, watch the balloons or the stars. Chris is a gracious and responsive host.

Great place to stay in Albuquerque. Very quiet neighborhood that is surprisingly close to everywhere you would want to go. Excellent host.

My family and I had a great stay! Chris was very helpful with everything and the snacks were a nice plus. A little warm during the day but luckily we were our most of the day. Other than that, 5 star stay for sure!

Response from Chris:
Thanks for staying Angelica, you guys were great! And thanks for the personal FAN your mom left. ;-) I know it does get a little bit too hot with evaporative cooling this time of year. Swamp coolers don't work that well once the rains come and it's more humid. They will only lower the temp about 15 degrees. So if it's above 90 it can get uncomfortable. Also, they need correct venting... It helps to leave the windows cracked in several locations. They need to have an evaporation out to function. I try to include that information on the welcome sheet, but today I noticed there was no window cracked in the downstairs area. That may have contributed to the hot-stuffy feeling. Sorry about that!

The Veranda is nestled in a quiet neighborhood in the North Valley. For Albuquerque, this is the safe, rural, farmland-type neighborhood. Chris' place is clean and cozy, and she is an incredibly gracious host!

Great place! Chris is a wonderful host. My friends and their two kids came to visit for a night, and we all slept comfortably in the studio space upstairs, although we could have spread out to the smaller downstairs area. I really appreciated all the nice snacks and conveniences Chris provided, as well as her clear directions and fantastic communication. Space was spacious and super clean. I highly recommend!

I am an "older" woman (what is "older" ? Something north of 40...), a Green Realtor, an ex hippy-child from Seattle who was pulling espresso at 19, having kids at 25, working in midwifery at 27, and going back to school at 28 & 40. (Yep, I finally got my bachelors degree at 43!)…
