The Empress Studio is located in a unique romantic location in the heart of Amsterdam (the 'nine streets' area), with a great view on the Keizersgracht. The clean and stylish studio is on the ground floor, with a lovely terrace on the waterside. It is in the centre of Unesco's World Heritage Site and the major musea are 15 minutes on foot away.

The space

The Empress Studio is located in a typical Amsterdam merchant house from 1750, of which the lower part was renovated in beautiful Jugendstil in 1900. With a great view on the Emperor’s Canal (the Keizersgracht), and a view on the first music hall of the city and the second fanciest hotel in town, the Dylan, it’s a very unique location. Within walking distance of Central Station, Damsquare, Leidseplein, Rembrandtplein, Spui, Kalverstraat (famous shopping street), the museum district, etc.

In the studio you will find a double bed (or two singles; please let us know which you prefer), some storage space, a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and espresso machine and a bathroom with shower. We will provide you with soap, toilet paper, towels and bed linen.

All rooms in this building are non-smoking only.

If you would like to make a reservation, please also tell us a little bit about yourself.

We are looking forward to meeting you,

A great place on the ground floor facing the canal. Super easy to access with a private terrace. The loacation is perfect. We walked from the train station with out bags and it wasn't too bad. The toilet bath was extremely small that was mentioned before and wasn't a deal breaker for us. The bed was super comfortable. The art work on the walls was a bit strange for us but that didn't really borne us. There's free coffee that deserves a mention. I would stay there again.

Location, location, location. Just outside of the tourist traps, but close enough if you want the experience!

Great location! Very central and close to many shops and restaurants. All within walking distance. Joop is a good host and very accommodate and let us to store our luggage a in the room while it is still being cleaned. We left our toothbrush charger after checking out. Joop waited for us and we picked it up on the same day! Thank you so much! We are very appreciate. Room were clean. Bathroom and shower are extremely small and a small faucet barely has water coming out. We used the kitchen sink mostly. No extra towels are available to change. No extra pillows. We spent 3 nights in a basement next to the building main entrance. We were woken up every time there were a person comes in, especially in the middle of the night. Poor Noise installation. Due to year round humidity in Amsterdam, the room smells damp. Kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed grocery shopping in the market and used microwave to cook our own food.

Having beers with friends on the front terrace on a sunny day, watching the bikes and boats go by, is a perfect Amsterdam experience. It was the fourth location I stayed in the city and was my favorite because, being half way between the Center and the Jordaan, it was just a modest (and completely beautiful) walk to wherever I wanted to go.

Joop was a very accommodating host. The studio was very clean, tidy, and close to everything in the city. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. Thanks Joop!

Check-in was easy. Joop responded to all questions in a timely manner. It is at the heart of the canal belt in walking distance to almost everything but without much noise. Overall, it's a cozy stay. The apartment does look a bit older than the pictures though. Wine in the fridge was a nice surprise.
