Adventurous people only!
Take yourself to the Principal's Office. This eclectic room has a four poster bed, vintage minibar with electric fire place and it own private half bath. The executive desk offers tons of space for work or play.
Mid century elementary school turned into cohousing offers a unique stay for adventurous people. 10 permanent residents live in various classrooms and tiny houses on the property. Your neutered pets are welcomed. Older building; mold is possible.

The space

We have gone all out to recreate the luxury and opulence of vintage principal's offices. Elegant executive desk, cheesy fireplace and super comfy full sized bed. Half bath ensuite.

Guest access

There is a full communal kitchen, a communal, but private shower and an auditorium with pool table, ping-pong and foosball.

Interaction with guests

Someone is usually around. I'm in Florida for the year so Joann will be the one you see the most.

Other things to note

Use the wifi that has the strongest signal. The shower is heated with on demand water heater which has a safety feature of shutting off after running continuously for 20 minutes, so plan accordingly. This is an old building. We are continually working on repairing the roof with mixed results. We do our best to keep up with things and appreciate your bringing any new items to our attention. There will be smells associated with an older building.

Before arrival, the host changed our room, so instead of staying in the "school," we stayed in the shed next to it. I was excited to stay in the Principal's Office. The people we shared a bathroom with felt the need to bang on the door the entire time I was taking a shower (it was a 5 minute shower). There was a hole in our window, so we had a lot of bugs coming in throughout the night. It's hard to review the Principal's Office since we never saw it though.

This review is about the overall facilities, NOT the room as we actually, with our permission, were given a different room. This compound is inhabited by a lovely mix of people and pets. I enjoyed spending early mornings sitting on the front steps watching a group of chimney swifts put on an air show with one of the dogs lying next to me and a cat in my lap. The hosts are very friendly, the facilities while less than pristine are fun to explore. If you're looking for perfection, this is not the place for you, but if not it's certainly fun and a decent value.

I stayed for a month and I loved it. Period. You will too. Laid back atmosphere, community vibe, amazing renovations. I'm going back.

I stayed for a few days. The bed was comfy, the room was spacious and clean, and the desk was amazing. I was able to get some work done, and the people here were friendly and a welcomed distraction in the evenings. Joann and Amy were quick with communication before and during my stay. I brought my skidding cat along for the trip, and she was just fine with the other animals. It was a quick 20 minute drive to Chattanooga, so exploring the area was easy enough too.

Great for the price. everyone was friendly and welcoming when we headed to the rec room to introduce ourselves. Clean rooms. Love the location -- quick drive to Chattanooga TN or Alabama!! used to be a dog rescue so I was so happy to be surrounded by so many cute dogs and cats!

I stayed in a different room this trip than I did the last time I was here.... unfortunately a cold snap with sub-freezing temps at night arrived at about the same time I did so the heater didn't help much this time, given that 3/4 of the wall space is exposed to the outside. It kept the chill off but that was about it. Otherwise the experience was the same as before.... comfortable bed (with a thick comforter available for warmth). lots of great folks around, Joann attentive to my needs when I had any. Highly recommended.

Joann and I cohost the Chickamauga school. If I am not there, she will be glad to welcome you and help in any way. I'm in Florida most of the school year teaching at a Nature School. We both love having people visit and getting to know them. I am a Montessori teacher and Joann is…
