I stayed here for a job interview right down the street and so I really wanted someplace quiet and comfortable where I could relax and prepare the night before. Johannes did not disappoint in any way - the house was clean and cool (good AC), and my personal room was spacious, equ…

Johannes's place was conveniently located near the subway station, which is one of the express stops downtown. He was very communicative and very welcoming to his and Tim's home. Very well kept room and house. Through a cosmic coincidence, Johannes made coffee ice cream the next …

Johannes is an EXCEPTIONAL host. His place is super neat & clean and comfortable. He went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed and responded to all of my questions super quick (even loaned me his contacts case & solution so I wouldn’t have to make an extra trip)…

Johannes' place was perfect for a first-time vacation to NYC. Johannes was very friendly, offering not only great tips for our itinerary, but also fresh coffee and home-made dessert! His quick responses, flexibility and hospitality make him a great host. The place is small, but v…

Response from Johannes:
Thanks for your honest feedback, Alexandria. I agree with most cons you’ve mentioned above, but I'm just going to clarify a few of them for my future prospective guests. 1. Everyne has different idea of small. It was your first time in NYC, so I can totally see it feeling small to some people including you who’re from less populated cities. My place is actually much bigger than average NYC apartments (especially in Manhattan). Especially the room you stayed in is humongous for NYC standards. If you or Airbnb need proof, I can provide the total square feet on my lease form. You can also tell it's a relatively bigger apt for NYC based on what most of my guests described it in their reviews for me. 2. About the bed size and the fact that my apt is only accessible by stairs - i just wanted to clarify that I told/tell everyone (including you) who express interest in staying the exact measurement of the futon bed in my very first message. And the stairways with no elevator in a walkup building has always been stated on my listing since the very beginning of my listing. So you’d agree with me that there was no surprise when you got here because I literally mentined all those cons you mentioned above in my very first message back to you (and everyone who messages me) and asked you to think through all those and be fine with them before finalizng the reservation so that neither party gets surprised and lead to a bad experience. Don’t get me wrong. You were one of the most pleasant guests I’ve hosted at my place and you're always welcome back here. I just wanted my future guests to know that all the possible inconveniences are mentioned in great details from me before any reservation is confirmed :)

Johannes is a very kind person , and he keeps the room clean and neat. The location is good. It takes 5-minute walking from 145th station to the apartment. There is a supermarket on the way.

Had a perfectly good stay at Johannes’ place. Room was large, clean, and warm. His hospitality was unbeatable and he was quick and easy to communicate with. Very short walk to 1, B, and C train. Good value!

I'm a New York based classical concert violinist and pianist. Down to earth and sweet to everyone I meet at first, but have zero tolerance for people with BS.
