My place is close to great views, restaurants and dining, the beach, and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space, the light, and the neighbourhood. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). The apartment has undergone a complete refurbishment and is now ready to welcome guests.
There is a double bedroom with 4ft 6" bed, a small single room, and a sofa bed in the living room, so can sleep 4
The apartment is separate (has its own entrance) but is part of the owners' house and is situated in a delightful position in St Margaret's Bay, both close to the beach and cliffs. Swimming is possible in the bay, and rock pooling is popular at low tide. Stunning views and great walks.
There is a small local shop where essentials can be purchased between 8am and 8pm. Tesco superstore is 4 miles away, and Dover and Deal can be reached easily by car. There are regular bus services from the village.
The Coastguard pub is extremely popular down on the beach, but booking for a meal is essential. The village has 2 other restaurants, and Deal has plenty to offer.
The apartment is for guest use only, and living room has French doors opening onto a sunny patio which looks onto the owner's lovely garden.
Access to the apartment is down the garden steps where you will need to call at the owner's front door to collect the key. You will then be shown to the side of the house where there is the entrance to the apartment.
Interaction with guests
Maggie lives in the main house and will be pleased to welcome guests and provide information useful for guests' stay.
Other things to note
There is very poor, if any reception for mobile phones due to the location, (high cliffs, and French reception appears to supersede English in this particular area)
There is however WIFI which is generally OK
If guests need to contact owner they will need to ring landline number
- Outside steps lead down to the house and apartment, unfortunately this is not suitable for disabled . Owner lives in main part of house and apartment is sometimes used by family, so guests are requested to leave the apartment as they would like to find it.
- Guests may request to use owner's garden but are responsible for their own safety and that of their children around the pond. The garden is not suitable for ball games, but there are a lot of open spaces within easy walking distance of the property.
- The beach is 5 minutes walk from the property, as are the National Trust White cliff walks, with stunning views over the Channel. Deal, a historic fishing town, is 7 miles away by car and there are plenty of pubs, restaurants and good shops. The cathedral city of Canterbury is situated approximately 20 miles away, but can be reached easily from the A2,in approximately 25 minutes from the property. There are plenty of interesting places to visit such as Dover, Deal and Walmer castles, historic Sandwich which was one of the Cinque ports, where the river Stour meets the sea.
There are plenty of places nearby that provide entertainment for the family, such as the Dover Water sports centre, ( pre-booking required), Quex Park Museum and gardens, and the Betteshanger Cycle park, where bikes can be hired by the hour, and there is a good playground for children. Howletts and Port Lympne zoos are about 16 miles away, and both places provide a fun day out for families.
