The space

This classic, spacious Victorian home is located just 9 blocks from the Arcata plaza. It has a comfortable family feel with a communal kitchen, expansive living area and large private rooms to retire to. It is the perfect home away from home for extended stays in the Arcata area. Find a new friend at our house and take off to enjoy the majestic redwoods, paddle the peaceful, scenic lagoons, bike through the lush Arcata Bottoms and explore the breathtaking, rugged coastline.
Our elegant home features beautiful hardwood floors and a large kitchen for preparing healthy, gourmet dinners with other guests, or making breakfast in the morning to enjoy in the sunshine on our deck overlooking Humboldt Bay. The spacious living room has large bay windows with lovely views out to Bay, and big, cushy sofas for relaxing. There is a woodstove to cuddle up next to on a chilly evening for games, conversation or to read a book.
This majestic Victorian home rests on top of a hill, so the rooms have a lofty feel, with views of the Bay and the town of Arcata. Enjoy your own private art gallery, with many pieces on display from talented local artists. All the private rooms have queen size beds, soft cotton sheets and down comforters.
Wildberry’s Market place is only 3 blocks away, and there is a community pool just around the corner. There are many Yoga classes offered in Arcata, a nearby gym and other activities to get involved in. Every Saturday during the spring, summer and fall there is a Farmer’s Market on the plaza, with live music and food. Humboldt State University brings lots of shows through town at the Van Duzer Theater, and you can often find a good local band at one of the coffee shops on the weekends.

Very cool, older house. Short distance to everything in arcata, eureka and the redwoods. I would stay here again.

Beautifully decorated home with big windows over the bay, and a very comfortable bed and sofas! Not much in the immediate area but plenty to do within a 15-min drive. Ann gave us many great recommendations for things to do, Moonstone Beach was our favorite and even had a waterfall on the ocean!

Loved the location. Very close to the town square with a beautiful view of the bay. Wonderfully quiet and bucolic setting surrounded by flowers and much more stunning than photos. Ann is quite an accommodating host responding immediately to any questions. Her house is tastefully appointed and richly decorated. A real artist at work. Though our stay was brief we loved Arcata but especially Anns house and would love to return.

I was unfortunately unable to meet Ann in person, but she responded quickly and provided accurate information as to directions and entry. The Victorian house is lovely and peaceful with beautiful local art, and some pieces can be purchased. I loved the decor in general! I was the only one on my stay so I had the place to myself, but I would love to come back with friends and have a full weekend in Humboldt County. A short walking distance away is a wonderful market (Wildberries) to pick up food items if eating in, or go to the farmer's market on the plaza if you are in Arcata on Saturday (it's amazing!). And don't miss the beautiful beaches nearby (I recommend Agate Beach in Trinidad). On my way out I was able to stop at Fire & Light's store and pick up some beautiful handmade glassware. If you are a café person... Café Brio! Thank you Ann for all of your recommendations.

OMG this place is like a homely warm embrace - highly recommend it. It's only an hours drive to the redwood walks in the north and the town of Arcata is so very cool - love love this place.

Hello all,

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and moved to the Arcata area in 1973 to go to Humboldt State University. I have enjoyed living in the beauty of the Redwoods, the coast, and the inland rivers ever since. I love to hike and photograph, with my daughters and many wonderful friends. I enjoy going to Maui several times a year to work on our vacation rental there, and soak up the sun and warm tropical breezes.

Creating home environments that feel good, and helping people find things they like to do near our vacation rentals is something I also enjoy!
