We originally booked for 8 nights in Joanna's apartment but when our plans changed at the last minute, we were able to extend our stay by an additional two nights at short notice. Joanna was extremely warm, hospitable and flexible to deal with and all our communications with her were clear and promptly responded to.
The studio apartment is in a fantastic location, above an alleyway coffee shop courtyard and a short walk to Aldi, Hamilton Train station (where the train from Sydney terminates), and numerous restaurants, pubs and a heap of funky retro/vintage shops. The apartment complex is extremely secure and even lone female travellers would feel very safe here. The little kitchen has two hotplates, a microwave and full-sized fridge and is well equipped with good quality pans and utensils. We spent a lot of time cooking there and were very happy with the facilities.
The bed is very comfortable and we were sorry to leave it! The roomy rear balcony has an interesting view down over the laneway and a coffee shop courtyard. Although there is some happy hubub from the coffeeshop and the pub at the end of the alley, closing the sliding door to the apartment effectively sealed out all noise. The shower is spacious, extremely clean and there is ample hot water.
We had our vehicle with us and although there is no offstreet parking provided, we had no problem parking right outside the door of the apartment during the unregulated parking times at night and on weekends, and in a nearby street during the day when required.
Overall, we could not find any fault with Joanna's lovely apartment and will certainly be looking to stay here again on our frequent future trips to Newcastle.
