Quiet, peaceful oasis. We had a wonderful long weekend waking up to peace and quiet with a gorgeous view. We were able to use the fishing pier and kayak. Caught some fish and a few crabs. Loved staying in the tiny house and honestly it didn't feel that tiny! Every part of it was crafted well and user friendly. They made the most of the space and have made r so quaint. It is built well with full size bathroom area and bed. The hosts were home part of the time we were there and were absolutely wonderful people! Would love to get to know them more on our next stay! They even had a little something special waiting for our arrival to celebrate our anniversary with. The perfect getaway with the best hospitality anyone could ask for. Highly recommend!

The cottage is perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature and peace and quiet right on the water. The kayak and dock right outside was so convenient and we saw lots of wildlife out on the water. There is a small kitchen and I enjoyed bringing along some simple meals to cook since I didn't want to leave the cottage!

Nancy & Rick are exceptional people & amazing hosts! Their cottage is clean, organized, immaculate, has such a comfy bed & you wake up by the water with the most beautiful view! Wild birds frequent the waterway directly in front on your porch catching fish throughout the day. They have provided comfy areas to sit by the water & the little extras show they truly care. Stay more than one night if you can but it's a perfect overnight retreat as well. They deserve way more than 5 stars!

We loved our stay here! My boyfriend and I were looking for a peaceful weekend away from DC., and that's exactly what we got. The cabin is right by the water, so we spent every evening watching crabs scuttle by as the sun set in the distance. Our favorite part was the kayak: we spent Saturday morning exploring the river. We were virtually the only ones out there. The area is rural and residential -- very picturesque for kayaking. Nancy and her husband were extremely friendly and communicative. They met us upon arrival to show us around, but also gave us plenty of privacy. They have stocked the cabin with necessities: coffee, tea, muffins, shampoo, soap, etc. Nancy even set out a bottle of wine for us to sip while we enjoyed the view from the dock. The cabin itself is beautifully decorated and very cozy. I highly recommend this listing for anyone looking to unwind by the water. I would certainly visit again!

Nancy and Rick are welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The cottage is so peaceful and a great place to rest. This is my second time at the Lazy Bear cottage, so you know it's good when there are returning customers. I'll hope to be back in the spring for a third stay!

Our profile picture shows my husband Rick and myself holding our baby Bear who no longer is with us. Rick tinkers in restoring classic sailboats and making sea-glass jewelry, he also reads a lot. I love to cross-stitch, read, also love to take power walks/running. Work in my gar…
