Maggie and Gordon were kind, warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and very accomdating. We extended our stay for one night, and even though it was the long weekend and booked fully, they made room for us. Breakfasts were healthy and followed with great conversation. The kitchen is large and the outer deck had an amazing view of the Kokanee glacier. Thanks guys...can't wait to return!

Tara Shanti is located just up the road from the Crawford Bay ferry and yet it felt like it was miles from anywhere. Maggie and Gord were perfect hosts and very welcoming. Breakfast served each morning was stellar and made the stay that much more relaxing. The room was cozy & the bed comfy. If you're looking for a comfortable and quiet getaway and a break from your online world, I highly recommend a stay with them. (WiFi is limited so you better bring a good book or 2)

We had an amazing two-night stay at Tara Shanti. Maggie and Gordon have created a peaceful oasis that feels far away from the rest of the world, yet is just uphill from the Kootenay Bay ferry. We LOVED being here and wish we could have stayed a week. Maggie was a good communicator before and during our stay, very flexible and accommodating, and she works hard to make sure her guests are happy and well cared for. We didn't get to meet Gordon as he was away on business, but Maggie took great care of us. Her breakfasts were tasty and filling, the whole vibe here is welcoming, and it's just a beautiful setting among the woods with views of the lake. We didn't spend much time in the common areas as we were out sightseeing (we also had a great dinner down the hill at Boccalino!), but everything from the guest kitchen to the huge deck to the living area is well done and comfortable. We were the only guests the first night and I spent a few hours chatting with Maggie in the kitchen. The next night 6 other guests arrived from Alberta, and they were a really fun, respectful, nice group of people. Our private room with en suite was exactly as pictured and expected. We want to go back and stay for a week. We highly recommend Tara Shanti.

Maggie and Gordon were very kind and a pleasure to chat with. The scenery of Kootenay Bay was beautiful and their location was close to the ferry and to a great restaurant (be sure to check out Boccalinos)! It was just what I expected from the pictures and was a clean, comfortable, peaceful place to stay. Breakfast was delicious!

Experienced travellers who like to go to new places, but old enough to appreciate comfort and good hospitality. Gord and Maggie are nature lovers and keen outdoor enthusiasts, so given everything the Kootenays had to offer, they purchased Tara Shanti in the spring of 2010. Major renovations were undertaken in 2015/16 which have reenergized the entire property, adding comfort and convenience for future guests to enjoy.

In the theme of sustainability, Gord and Maggie have utilized energy and water efficiency wherever possible; including triple pane windows and low-flush toilets. The renovations also incorporated select recycled product options such as recycled roof (Enviroshake) and deck (Azek). Throughout the property you will find items which have been ‘re-purposed’ and as part of the growing Eastshore community, Gord and Maggie actively support other local businesses and greenhouses.
