This is the experience that I had with this property. I was to check in at 3:00 and I received a call from Tom about 2:30 that they weren't ready for me. I arrived about 4:30 PM, my bed was unmade & the entire home was in chaos as some people were moving out & others were moving in; this was large furniture: sofa’s chairs, beds, bookcases etc. It was difficult to navigate through the main floor to the stairwell. My room on the second floor was in very poor condition, in need of paint & wall repairs. The carpet was dirty. There were 3 windows open, one with a portable screen, 2 others with none. There were small black flies in the room. I was concerned but hoped I could make it work as I didn’t have an alternative place to stay. The owner came & made the bed. He told me that the light over the outside door was not working but he would leave the garage light on which would light the parking area. This concerned me as it is a gravel area with stairs & I would be returning from my conference about 10:00 pm when it would be very dark. He also told me that I shouldn’t have a bath in the tub; I believe because the water source would not support a bath, but I’m not actually sure of the reason. When I saw the tub it was clear to me that I would not have a bath in it as it looked very dirty. There was a black substance around the top of the tub which I believe to be mould. He also told me that the taps drip so I would need to really close them hard after a shower. He told me that he did not live in the house but there were two other men living there. He also told me that the entrance door to the house had an issue with the lock & so they did not close it completely to avoid needing to use a key. When he left I closed the window in the bathroom to keep the bugs out & it became obvious there was a strong smell of urine. It was overpowering once I closed the window. In the closet in my room were someone else’s belongings on the floor. I was still hoping to make it work when I saw a large bug crawling on my diary. At that point I realized that I felt very unsafe & could not sleep in that house. I packed up my stuff and left at 5:30, advising Tom that I was leaving because the my room was dirty & smelled bad and that there was a cockroach in my room. One of the men who lives in the house said that the cockroaches are indigenous to the region. That did not help! I told Tom that I would like a refund, as I had to book...

Response from Tom:
To make a long story short, please come and see for yourselves, the Manor house is not as described by Francesca, and each of us shall bear out the fruit of our words.

Big old beautiful house. Amazing woodwork inside. A group of eco-tec young folks were staying there and introduced me to all sorts of interesting projects going on in town. My room was large with sitting area and desk. Window AC provided white noise since house was on Main St. Traffic was close but not a problem. Reminded me of college days. Fun. If you are coming home after dark, pay attention to driveway entrance landmarks. A light would be helpful.

Beautiful big old house on a nice big lot. Quiet and peaceful. Clean and comfy. Also a 6 min walk to the center of town where you'll find great restaurants, bars, and shops.

Everything was perfect! I will exactly come back again. Other rooms are also good, but this private one better. Clean, secure, comfy, quiet... It has whatever you can need. I am not even mentioning about hospitality... Thanks!
