Great family accommodation! Ideal for getting away from the hectic world. Plenty of room, well equipped, and the kids loved the chickens!

We had a fantastic week in this beautifully converted building. Although the house is fairly remote, thanks to Henry's great communication we found it easily and, despite our lack of French, we received a very warm welcome. The property has been very tastefully renovated and is very well equipped and comfortable - it was an absolute pleasure to stay somewhere so unusual. What really set it apart for us was the setting in 400+ acres of private parkland, all at our disposal. We particularly enjoyed trekking and riding the bikes (which were provided at the property) around the lake, woodlands and meadows that were literally right on our doorstep. If you are after peace and quiet this is definitely the place to go. We loved seeing the deer and even came across a family of wild boar a couple of times! However, there are also lots of interesting places to visit nearby, along with convenient shops and plenty of good restaurants within a short drive. In short, I cannot recommend Henry’s place highly enough; we loved it and hope to visit again in future!

Henry's place is great. We stayed here for a week in June with our 3-year old. It's clean, fantastically equipped, completely quiet and secluded, on a large French estate (with a mini French chateau just the other side of the lake which is owned by Henry's parents who live there and are always on hand to help). If you're looking for a quiet, private place, just 5 minutes drive from the pretty French village of Malestroit, and only 20 minutes drive to Josselin and Rochefort-en-Terre and other places, then this is a great choice. We really enjoyed our stay. It's great sitting outside in the evening looking over the lake, meadows and forests.

Henry's beautiful refurbished stone barn on a country estate, complete with a chateau next door, is a beautiful haven of rural tranquility. Apart from birdsong (both wild and cockerel) it is blissfully quiet, and a real getaway from day-to-day life, French style. In the end we actually enjoyed not having a constant Internet connection, and if you're desperate the nearby town of Malestroit offers free wi-fi. We developed a morning routine of dashing into the artisanal bakery in the main square (lots of free parking) for baguettes and a pastry or two, and then checking the overnight emails, before rushing back to our peaceful world inside the gated walls! The house itself is lovingly refurbished, and with two bedrooms and two bathrooms offers everything necessary for a comfy stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything that IKEA offers, and it's easy to be fully self-contained in your own little corner of la belle France! Day trips anywhere in Brittany are possible, but then why would you if you have your own estate?? Highly recommended. Thanks, Henry!

What a wonderful time we had in Henry's converted old tabacco barn. Such a delight to stay there. The house was light, warm and relaxed on a very beautiful location. It was better then we could imagine. Henry is a superb host, responding on every question almost directly. We had a warm welcome by Valerie, and also a very pleasant goodbye. We definitly want to go back again with our little daughter who had a wonderful time! Especially the shower was her favorite room in the house!! What to say more, we loved it, great holiday!! Thanks Henry and Valerie, we hope to come back another time! Karin, Doeka and Herman
