Hello everyone,
this flat has 2 rooms, 1 kitchen, 1 toilet and 1 bathroom.
The rooms are one bed room and one living room. You will sleep in the living room (see pictures). Please be aware, that me and my Girlfriend will be in the bedroom.
Further, please be aware that you will sleep on futon, not in a western style bed.

The space

You will have your own room, but since it is our living room our personal belongings are there. Please keep in mind that we are not a hotel/hostel :) It is just an ordinary living room.
Everything will be cleaned before you arrive, although it will not be 100% hospital-like clean since the building is a bit oldish.
Also recently lots of people think the kitchen is a bit too stuffed. We can and will not change that because the kitchen is just too small to get everything in there. So it will look stuffed when you arrive but i guarantee you everything is clean. It is just like in the picture, so please have a look at that so you do not come with wrong expectations. It is a small flat and for the guests we keep the guest room free. So our belongings need to fit in the rest of the flat. Please be aware of that. Thank you :)

Guest access

You can enter any time when I am home, in most cases I can give you a key and you can enter anytime.

Interaction with guests

If you want we can spend time together, depending on my and your schedule, but a drink in the evening is always possible :)

Felix and Yukiko were very friendly and welcoming. They gave me all the information I needed to enjoy Yamagata Prefecture. Their apartment is traditional but has everything you need. It is close to the Tendo Minami and a huge mall. I plan to come again in Yamagata and I will stay another 2 days there.

Felix and Yukiko are a great couple. They are always wanting to help and share time with their guest. We share dinner and had some drinks, we spent a good time there.

Felix and Yukiko were very nice and considerate, even if we forgot to tell them the exact hour of our arrival ! ;) They brought us to a nice restaurant of Okonomiyakis and to a great "feet's bath" ! Thank's a lot for your kindness! As guests, just be prepared to sleep in a small room, and to share a small place with them. The district is not very charming (Tendo's suburb) but convenient. (you still have to take two trains to reach Yamadera)

Finding my way there from the train station was a challenge. It took me several minutes of looking at maps to find the correct direction; then I left the station. It was challenging too to keep track of all the turns in the dark. But Felix was there at the door when I stopped where the light was on, to ask directions. Talk about luck of the blind! He pointed me to grocery store. When I returned, we had almost 2 hours of good conversation (including Yukikô). It turns out he is a PhD student at the U of Yamagata, studying climate change. I just gave a climate change talk at Nagoya U and will be giving a keynote speech on climate change in 2 weeks in Valencia Spain. The shower room was spacious and good, the kitchen adequate.

I am a 27 years old German currently studying my PhD. at Yamagata University, Japan.
My hobbies are traveling, sword fighting, cooking & eating and above all (except the sword fighting :D ) meeting new people and having chats with them over a beer.
I mostly travel with friends but every now and then they have no time so I go by myself and hope to meet new people on the way.
If you are my guest, I can take care of you if you want and show you the local attractions etc. Since I am a student i can adjust my schedule to make it possible.
Cheers,
Felix
