Beautiful and walkable

Guests say this area is scenic and it’s easy to get around.
Four minutes on foot from the heart of Ullapool, and a six-minute walk from the ferry, this wee flat will make your stay special.

Whether your trip is focused on Ullapool and the surrounding area, or you want the perfect stop on the NC500, An Uamh is a great cosy flat for your stay.

It has step free access, doors wide enough for wheelchairs, and off-street parking.

An Uamh (pronounced something like "An Ooerv") is so named because of the nearby Assynt caves, which Hugh knows well.

The space
The private entrance door opens onto the main room which has a small but complete kitchen, a dining table and chairs and a really comfortable squishy sofa with a footstool.

It's a great place to watch the world go by and you'll see the Stornoway ferry coming right past.

The bedroom and bathroom are both off the main room.

In the bedroom there's a double bed with a comfortable Eve hybrid mattress, bedside cabinets and an open hanging rail unit with hangers, and shelves and containers for clothes.

The default duvet is feather and down filled, but guests have the option of a synthetic filling instead - just message ahead so I can change it. There is also a thinner synthetic duvet (4.5 tog) for guests who prefer to sleep cool.

All the sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases are 100% cotton. The well-filled pillows have synthetic filling, and all have protectors, as does the mattress.

The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, an illuminated mirror above the basin, a toilet and a ventilation fan. It also has a heated towel rail and hooks for clothes. Two bath towels and two hand towels are provided, as well as a bath mat.
Towels can be changed during your stay if you need. Shampoo and body wash made by Highland Soaps are provided, as well as hand wash for the basin.

The stylish kitchen has a fan oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, kettle, toaster and filter coffee maker with a reusable filter. Cooking oil, salt and pepper, and Yorkshire teabags are provided. Wooden worktops give the kitchen a cosy feeling.

There are pots and pans including a casserole dish which can also be used on the hob. Utensils are provided, but if there's anything else you need during your stay you can ask Hugh and borrow things if he has them.
There are drinking glasses, wine glasses and a corkscrew.
Most of the crockery is handmade by Hugh in his pottery next door.
Tea towels and a hand towel are provided in the kitchen. Highland Soaps hand wash is provided for the kitchen sink.
There's cupboard space for a small food shop, and Tesco is only a three-minute walk away.

There's one double bedroom and the flat is licensed for a maximum of two people, excluding under twos, so you are welcome to bring a cot and/or travel bed for children under two. You will need your own bedding for children. (One set of bedding and towels etc is provided for the first two people). Extra adults can stay in my other letting unit which is now ready to let. This is called Am Bothan and is also listed on airbnb.

Please note there's no TV in An Uamh.

There's decent wifi throughout the flat, provided by Highland Community Broadband, and the password will be provided on arrival.

There's also a Bose Bluetooth speaker which guests are welcome to connect to and use.

Booking is usually set to "same day bookings possible". If not, I may still be able to accommodate you on the same day so feel free to message to check.

If there are more than two people in your party (excluding infants) you could also book Am Bothan, my guest room with ensuite bathroom at the back of the property. It's also on the ground floor and has its own entrance.

There's a fast (22kW) double EV charger - open to the public during the day and reserved for guests overnight. You need your own charging cable. Guests get a reduced rate.

Guest access
The entire flat with its own private entrance.

You will be sharing the outside space with Hugh and also visitors to his pottery workshop. But the inside space is just for you.

Hugh the owner lives in the house which occupies the rest of the ground floor and the entirety of the upstairs.

Other things to note
The architect-designed house and flat were built in 2023-24, and have extremely good levels of insulation.
In the pictures of the house, the flat is just over half of the ground floor, on the left hand side.
Heating and hot water are provided by an air source heat pump at the back of the property (you won't hear it as it's at the right hand corner of the building, at the rear).
There are also solar photovoltaic panels on the front and back of the roof, and battery storage, making this a very environmentally friendly holiday option.

The flat was also designed into the building, and previously there wasn't a house on the site, so the flat hasn't taken away any existing local housing.

There are recycling bins in the flat.

An Uamh is LGBTQ friendly.
