Steps from the water - and a beachside hot tub - our studio is a great place to recharge. Take a pleasant walk or bike ride to restaurants and shops - or head to nearby swimming beaches if it’s hot, or go for a hike in the Olympics (45 minutes away).

The space

The Studio at Frog Palace is our recently remodeled guest space on Appletree Cove, a mile outside of Downtown Kingston. With a luxurious, adjustable-firmness queen bed, new kitchen and bathroom, and adjacent shared washer and drier, it can comfortably accommodate up to 2 adults (air bed and outside tent spaces can be arranged). Kitchen essentials include pots/pans, dishes, electric kettle, microwave, dishwasher, and stocked coffee and half-and-half.

Guest access

The studio shares a yard (and parking) with two other families, including our own. Beach access is shared. Although it's not secluded, the space is in its own building and private from the other families. Likewise, the hot-tub is separate from the buildings and visually private, and access is one family at a time (AirBnBers get priority). Sharing the property means running into each other is likely, but a smile and a wave is plenty (although we're always happy to visit or answer questions)!

**The studio does have a home office on the second floor, but both have separate entrances, and the office is not in use over the weekends. On weekdays it is in use 10-5 only.

Other things to note

Although Frog Palace is secluded, there's lots to do. Along with shops, restaurants, and a movie theater all within a 5 minutes by bike or a 20-minute walk on great sidewalks, the property fronts onto more than a mile of walkable beaches, and is near great swimming spots. Outings to nearby trailheads are easily arranged (the Quinalt, Duckabush, Skokomish, and Hamma Hamma rivers are popular, along with Mt. Townsend and Mt Zion), and we can help you plan a dayhike and get weather reports/maps. Kayak and Stand-up paddleboards are also available for rent in Kingston.

Don't sleep on this place! A super cozy place to stay in a quaint little town, with lots to do and explore nearby. The hot tub is a such an amazing treat too! We would definitely recommend Mary's place to anyone wanting a quiet, romantic getaway!

Lovely little studio with a comfortable, homey feel! Beautiful setting which offers the amenities of living away from the city, yet, close enough to ride the ferry to downtown Seattle or drive just 30 minutes to the west for beautiful Olympic Natural Park! Quaint villages with local eateries and shopping districts close-by. All-in-all, well spent money for a get-away to Seattle!

If you're looking for a quiet, affordable, and adorable place to stay in Kingston - this is it. The freestanding studio space is nicely furnished. Has an adjustable firmness bed situation. A clean 3/4 bathroom, with fan. And a nice refrigerator and dishwasher. There are plenty of towels, which is nice because you're going to want to try out the hot tub every night. It's on what I would call a "beach deck" - in front of the main house. It's down low and private, with a serene view of Kingston. Sit and watch the ferries float in. And then there's Mary. She's awesome. We communicated over email several times early on, and as we got closer, via text. She is polite, personable, and responsive. I am going to be staying here again.

Mary’s studio aka The Frog Palace was a perfect getaway. All the way from California, we Spent 6 days in Washington for a birthday vacation and couldn’t have chosen a better place to relax. The view, the home and just the whole environment, was perfection. We didn’t want to leave. Our first night we sat for three hours enjoying the view of the sound and the ferries. Trust me it didn’t get old. Exactly what we wanted. Perfect little home away from home. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you again Mary.

Very cute, comfy space, lovely garden, interesting beach. Good if you want privacy, did not interact a lot or try hot tub as host had guests over. still enjoyed cute space and helpful guest guide with dining suggestions. Must eat at Mossback!

My stay at Mary's hidden gem of a place was just what I was looking for and so much more. The location couldn't be better, the view spectacular, the gardens stunning and the hosts friendly, warm and welcoming. Flowers awaited me along with all those little touches that set apart good stays from great stays. At low tide I took long walks along the beach and found many sea glass treasures. I hope to return many times and would recommend it to all!
